I am a mother 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Yesterday around 3 pm, I grabbed my youngest sister and hauled her to Key Largo for a little R&R with my grandmother, my mother and my other two sisters (there are four of us, and I'm the oldest). When I got there, I wasn't a mother (well, I had shirked my motherly responsibilities, anyway) for a while. It was nice. We made homemade pizza, drank tea, gossiped a bit, and talked about the men in our lives.
It was w o n d e r f u l. This morning, a little more of the same. We enjoyed a nice breakfast on the balcony and then headed to the pool. At this point, our motherly guilty instincts kicked in and we invited the children and spouses to join us. Of course we did! We're mothers, that is what we do. It was still wonderful.
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. I hope your day was as lovely as my own.
