Yes, I know...it's not even Thanksgiving yet. But this Cake Mix Christmas Sugar Cookies Recipe is just too much fun not to share RIGHT NOW!

I love doing cookie exchanges, especially the Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap each year.

You can read all about the Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap in this Banana Bread Cookies Recipe blog post!

Cake Mix Christmas Sugar Cookies Recipe

There's just something so fun about doing a cookie swap, sharing your baking with friends and family - and sometimes strangers too - that I get super excited about it each Christmas.

Aren't they just adorable? This Cheater Christmas Cookies Recipe results in light and fluffy cookies, but they are still crispy on the edges, just like one of those thicker old fashioned sugar cookies. I LOVE chewy and crispy cookies, don't you?

I think that is why I have never been a fan of store bought cookies, to be perfectly honest. Sure, they may TASTE good, but I like to bite down into a cookie and feel it give - not crumble.

All you have to do is put some in a pretty Ziploc bag or in a decorative tin and you're all set for your cookie swap, to give as gifts to coworkers or even as a nice hostess gift for that last minute holiday party that you were invited to!

How to Make This Cake Mix Christmas Sugar Cookies Recipe

Ingredients needed to make this Cheater Christmas Cookies Recipe:

    • 1 box of white cake mix, any brand.
    • 2 large egg whites
    • ⅓ cup of vegetable oil
    • frosting
    • Christmas colored sprinkles

Directions for making this Cheater Christmas Cookies Recipe:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Combine the cake mix, egg whites and oil, mixing well.

Note: I removed the yolk from this bowl!

    cake mix and eggs
    cookie dough batter

Roll the cookie dough into 2" balls, placing about 2-3 inches apart on a cookie sheet.

Using the bottom of a glass, gently press the cookie dough balls down to about ¼ in thickness.

Bake 8-10 minutes, being careful not to overbake. If you don't have a kitchen timer, I highly recommend one!

Allow the cookies to cool on cooling racks, or simply set aside for about 10 mins. Once cooled, generously frost and sprinkle to your heart's content!

This Cake Mix Christmas Sugar Cookies Recipe makes approximately 2 dozen cookies.
