Scrape down the sides of the bowl halfway through mixing.

Mix together flour and baking soda and slowly beat just until combined.
Divide dough into thirds, coloring one-third blue, one-third red, and leaving one-third uncolored.
Divide the chocolate chips into fourths and pour one-fourth into the blue batter, one-fourth into the red batter, and one-fourth into the undyed batter. Set aside the remaining chocolate chips.
Use a teaspoon to scoop one-third of the white, red, and blue batter onto the spoon.
Roll the batter between your palms to make a 1" ball.
Place onto the baking sheet and use the reserved chocolate chips to press 4-5 into each cookie ball.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until just browned. Remove from oven and let stand for 2 minutes on the baking sheet before using a spatula to move them to a cooling rack to cool completely. Store any leftover cookies in an airtight container.
