OH, Spring! While you might be laughing that someone from Miami is talking about the changing of the seasons, we actually really do have a SPRING...it's those 2 or 3 weeks in February and March when it's chilly enough to bring a sweater when we go out for ladies night, but not too cold to go to the beach. I know, I know, it's so rough living in Paradise! Now, two of my favorite holidays roll around in the Springtime. Easter and my Birthday! Sometimes my birthday actually falls ON Easter, making it all that much more special to me! Oh, the Easter baking - okay, the ham is good too, but I just love baking during the Spring, and Easter gives me the perfect excuse, like with this Springtime Strawberry Strudel Recipe.
My family is HUGE on celebrating holidays, birthdays - any reason for us all to get together and have fun. As my travel schedule has been really crazy the last few years, I've missed out on a lot of family gatherings. I am trying extra hard to make 2018 the year that spend more time with my family - like my sweet little niece Roxanna, whose birthday I have missed for three years in a row.
One of the many ways we love celebrating Easter in our family is by baking! It seems that all of the women in our family share that same love of baking, and we've been coming up with creative ways to use Pillsbury™ products from Walmart in the kitchen for years!
There are SO many ways to get creative with your baking when using Pillsbury™ products, and Walmart has a large variety! Check out this Bacon Egg and Cheese Brunch Ring and these Carrot Cheesecake Cinnamon Roll Cups, for starters. Yes, we are talking way beyond just making biscuits or crescent rolls!
My favorite Pillsbury™ products are the Pillsbury™ Refrigerated Original Crescent Rolls 8 ct because they are so versatile, I come up with a million ways to use them - and they taste amazing just on their own served with dinner too! This Springtime Strawberry Strudel Recipe is really easy to make and you can actually substitute other fruit - or even skip the fresh fruit and use a jam or marmalade - for a new twist each time you make them.
Springtime Strawberry Strudel Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 8 oz can of Pillsbury™ Refrigerated Original Crescent Rolls 8 ct
- 1 tub of cream cheese
- pint of fresh strawberries
- 3 tablespoons of white sugar - optional (I don't add sugar to mine, but Angeline likes them better with a hint of sweetness)
Directions
Unroll the Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Rolls flat and squish together the seams of two rolls, so that they bind and form into one square. You can also use a rolling pin for this...but I couldn't find mine. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of cream cheese into the center, like so...
It's important to slice the strawberries VERY thin, so that they cook evenly.
The amount of strawberries you add to the cream cheese mixture is really up to you! This is where you'd sprinkle with sugar, if you feel so inclined.
Next you're going to take one outer corner of the dough and bring it into the center, then grab the opposite edge and bring it into the center and pinch it to bind it together.
Repeat with the remaining corners until you have a little "pocket" like an envelope!
The directions on the Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Rolls will instruct you on how long to cook this Springtime Strawberry Strudel Recipe, but I recommend keeping an eye on them for the last 2 minutes or so, because you really want that golden brown, flaky, crusty finish!
It's the best part!
I hope that you like this Springtime Strawberry Strudel Recipe as much as we do! Now go to Walmart and grab some Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Rolls and get creative in the kitchen this Spring!
