How to Make Potatoes and Green Beans

For this old fashioned potatoes and green beans recipe, we used French style green beans - but donโ€™t worry, regular green beans work just as well! For the potatoes, we used a bag of Sunburst Blend Bite-Sized Potatoes (so cute, right?), and the package was 24 oz. Perfect size for a delicious dish!

Ingredients you will need to make our Potatoes and Green Beans:ย

    • 6 slices bacon, cut into 1" pieces (uncooked)
    • ยฝ cup chopped white onion
    • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
    • 2 tablespoons butter
    • 1-ยฝ lbs, bite size potatoes, cut into ยฝ" cubes
    • โ…“ cup chicken broth
    • 1lb, fresh green beans, cut into 2" lengths
    • freshly ground black pepper

Directions for how to make our Green Beans and Potatoes Recipeย

You might want to tweak the cooking time to your taste, of course. Personally, I like my potatoes nice and soft, but for my green beans? A little crunch is just perfect, and that's exactly what these cooking times will give you!

First, add your bacon to a large skillet and cook it over medium high heat until the bacon is browned and crispy.

Then remove the cooked bacon from the pan and let stand to drain on a plate line with paper towels. Set it aside for now.ย

Now, in the same skillet in the bacon grease, add your chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is tender and translucent. This should take about 5 minutes.

Next, add your potatoes, butter and chicken broth and heat until the liquid is boiling. Cover and reduce the heat to simmer. Stir your potatoes occasionally and cook for about 10 minutes.

Now stir in the green beans and cook for an additional 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
