I made a delicious recipe using SPLENDA® Sweeteners as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #SplendaSweeties #SweetSwaps This post contains affiliate links.

We all know that you can whip up tasty baked goods using SPLENDA® Sweeteners in the place of regular sugar, right? Well, as I showed you in last month’s Sweet Avocado Dip recipe, SPLENDA® Sweeteners work pair fabulously with veggies too!

Easy Baked Caramelized Brussel Sprouts Recipe #SplendaSweeties #SweetSwaps

You can use SPLENDA® Sweetener Products for all kinds of Sweet Swaps; you can use their products in your cooking, like I did with this veggie dish, or baking and even beverage-making!

Easy Baked Caramelized Brussel Sprouts Recipe

SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener works best in recipes where it is used to sweeten, so that’s exactly what I did: I recreated one of my favorite veggie dishes using the SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend to reduce the calories and sugar content! This Caramelized Brussel Sprouts recipe is easy to make and can be served as an appetizer or a side dish at your next dinner party.

Author Jenn Quillen

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend
  • 1 dash of salt
  • 1 dash of pepper
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 pounds of Brussel Sprouts ends cut off and cut in half

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
  2. After your Brussel Sprouts are washed, cut the ends off and halve them.
  3. Place them in a baking dish (I used a 9x13) and sprinkle with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil.
  4. Toss until the Brussel Sprouts are evenly coated with olive oil and then sprinkle 2 tablespoons of SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes, then stir, and sprinkle one more tablespoon of SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend on top and bake for another 15 minutes.

I love the way this dish came out, it’s caramelized but not too sweet, and the flavor of the Brussel sprouts really shines through because there aren’t tons of spices or seasonings. The SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend is really complimentary to the natural flavor of the veggies!

I just love brussels sprouts. I like them pretty simple too; salt, pepper, olive oil and sometimes onions or garlic. Maybe a bit of bacon. But, I am always open to new ways and this sounds really good.

I think brussel sprouts are making a comeback in popularity. I’d love to try them now, as an adult. As a kid I snubbed them on principal (crazy, right?). 🙂

Brussel Sprouts are one of those food that cause war in our house, although one side (me) is badly outnumbered since the wife and kids all like them and I don’t. Maybe caramelizing will help.
