    Who doesn't love apple pie? Especially a super easy to make Apple Slab Pie Recipe?

    I will be honest...I am not a huge fan of pumpkin pie and pecan pie during the holidays.

    I mean, sure, I'll eat them. It is PIE, after all! But my favorites are apple pie and cherry pie. So this Apple Slab Pie Recipe is right up my alley!

    And it turns out SO CUTE!

    How to Make our Apple Slab Pie Recipe

    Ingredients you will need to make our Apple Slab Pie Recipe

    Crust Ingredients:

    • 2-⅔ cup all purpose flour
    • 1 stick butter, cold and cut into cubes
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • 3-6 tablespoons water
    • 1 egg, slightly beaten
    • coarse sugar, if desired

    Filling Ingredients:

    • 2 apples, peeled and cubed
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1 cup apple cider (or apple juice) divided
    • ½ cup flour

    Crust Directions:

    Preheat oven to 350. Add flour, butter, sugar, salt and 3 tablespoons of water in a food processor. Process for 15 seconds. Add water, 1 tablespoon at a time, processing for 10 seconds after each addition until dough forms.

    Divide dough in half and roll onto a floured surface. Place into the bottom of an 8x8 square pan. Top with filling. Use a brush to add egg wash to the edges of the crust.

    To make top crust, roll the remaining dough onto the floured surface. Use a cutting wheel to cut 10, ½" strips. Place five strips onto the top of the filling and fold back every other strip.

    Apple Slab Pie Recipe

    Place remaining strips onto the top, one at a time, folding back every other strip to make a basket pattern. Seal the edges of the crust with a fork and trim if necessary.

    Add egg to top crust with a brush. Sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.

    Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool until just warm before cutting and serving.

    Filling Directions:

    Add apples, sugar, and ½ cup apple cider into a saucepan. Heat on medium, stirring occasionally until apples are tender, about 5 minutes.

    In a separate container, mix ½ cup apple cider and flour. Stir well. Pour into apple mix and bring to a boil. Boil for 2-4 minutes or until bubbly and thick. Set aside to cool.

    Add apple mixture to prepared crust.
