    Ingredients needed to make this Homemade Hot Cocoa Cookies Recipe

    For cookies

    • ½ cup unsalted butter
    • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 1 ½ cups flour
    • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
    • 1 ¼ cups light brown sugar
    • 3 eggs
    • 25 large marshmallows

    For the glaze

    • 2 cups powdered sugar
    • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
    • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • ¼ cup hot water
    • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    • sprinkles

    Melt the chocolate and butter.

    Let it cool down.

    Homemade Hot Cocoa Cookies Recipe for Christmas

    In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.

    Using a mixer, beat the sugar, eggs and vanilla at low speed until smooth.

    Add the cooled chocolate and beat until smooth.

    Put the dough in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

    Preheat the oven to 325* F. and cover 2 baking sheets with baking paper. Make identical dough balls.

    Spread the balls on a baking sheet at a small distance from each other, then lightly press the dough with your fingers on top.

    Bake the cookies for about 12 minutes.

    Cut a large marshmallow in half.

    When the cookies are baked, take them out of the oven and press half of the marshmallows (cut side down) into the center of each cookie.

    Prepare the icing for the cookies.

    Mix all the ingredients in a medium bowl and whisk with a whisk. Put a small amount of glaze on the top of each marshmallow and lightly smear it with the back of a spoon. 

    Let the glaze set for about 30 minutes before serving.
