10 Lifestyle Changes That Will Restore Your Hormonal Balance

10 Lifestyle Changes That Will Restore Your Hormonal Balance

Hormones affect your physical, mental, and emotional health. These are chemical messengers that control your weight, mood, appetite, sexual energy, and many other things. Your endocrine glands under normal circumstances produce the perfect amount of each hormone needed by the body. However, many people are facing hormonal imbalances, which are caused by imbalances in the production of certain hormones.

Some of the symptoms of hormonal imbalance include depression and anxiety, low libido, fatigue, weight gain, irregular periods or infertility, and digestive issues. If you are facing any of these conditions, you most probably are suffering from hormonal imbalance.

Here are solutions you could embrace that will help you to restore your hormonal balance.

    1. Adopt a plant-based high-fiber diet

To reduce excess estrogen, which could trigger a change in emotions, you should adopt a high-fiber plant-based diet. Such a diet reduces levels of estrogen to ensure you have the optimal amount. The excess is eliminated through bowels, but if the stool remains in the gut for a longer period of time more estrogen is absorbed into the blood. Studies have revealed that women could reduce the risk of breast cancer by lowering levels of estrogen in the breast tissues.

    2. Boycott soy to balance hormones

Soy disrupts hormones by behaving like estrogen to the body. It may cause inflammation and in some cases, it inhibits trypsin, an important protein digestive enzyme. Several studies have shown that soy triggers hormonal imbalance and could harm the general health of the consumer. To learn how you can improve intake of foods that help to keep your hormones at balanced levels, read such topics on Verisana, where you can also request hormone tests to know if your symptoms correspond with hormonal imbalance.

    3. Physical exercise

With regular exercise, you can reduce excess estrogen levels. Physical activity accelerates detoxification and eliminates excess estrogen through respiration. Your metabolism is also ramped up to allow the burning of excess fat. Naturally, this process lowers the amount of estrogen that is circulating through the blood, thereby helping to keep your hormone levels in check.

    4. Stress management

Stress could be a major factor you are facing imbalances in your hormones. This is because when you are stressed, the body tends to release more estrogen. Stress hormones are released in plenty when you take stimulants like alcohol, sugar, caffeine, and energy drinks. Therefore, you should avoid stimulants while fighting stress. Meditation, yoga, exercises, gardening, deep breathing, and Epsom salt baths are among practices you can adopt that will help you to fight stress.

    5. Cut back on sugar and refined carbs

Sugar and refined carbs are linked to different health problems. Reducing intake of these foods could help to optimize hormone function and will also help you to avoid obesity and related diseases. Fructose increases insulin levels and could also promote insulin resistance. A low carb diet could help to reduce insulin levels among overweight and obese people.

    6. Use essential oils

Essential oils help you to balance hormones naturally, so it’s necessary that you eliminate toxins by cutting back on conventional body care products that include harmful chemicals like propylene glycol and parabens. An essential oil promotes a balance of estrogen levels. It contains natural phytoestrogens, which also helps to regulate menstrual cycle and treat infertility.

    7. Fill nutritional voids using supplements

It’s also necessary to ensure your body gets enough supply of important nutrients. Supplements help you to fill any void left by your diet to ensure you don’t get a deficiency. You need Vitamin D, which serves as a hormone in the body to keep inflammation levels low. Probiotics help to repair your gut lining and this, in turn, allows the balancing of your hormones.

    8. Get more sleep

Sleep deprivation is a major cause of hormonal imbalances. Lack of sleep disturbs the natural circadian rhythm and this process contributes to imbalances in key hormones. For example, Cortisol, the main stress hormone, gets regulated by midnight, so people who sleep late never manage to find a break from their sympathetic flight/stress response.

    9. Back off birth control pills

Birth control pills are part of the reason people suffer from hormonal imbalances. Some of these drugs contain a type of hormone that raises estrogen levels. This does not mean you abandon birth control completely, but you can turn to other safer options for preventing pregnancy. Simply say no to any birth control pills that react to trigger hormonal imbalance.

    10. Take egg yolk to balance hormones

If you are already facing an imbalance in your hormones, you can reduce this condition by consuming egg yolks. The yolks provide more valuable nutrition. They contain important vitamins like vitamin A and Vitamin  D, and you will also get other minerals including Selenium, which converts thyroid hormones into an active form.

Balancing hormones in your body is essential as it prevents a number of health complications. There are many problems that can arise from taking a diet that leads to an imbalance in important chemicals in the body. To ensure you take the right measures to restore your hormonal balance, you should consider the guidelines suggested above.
