How to Make A Thanksgiving Giant Cookie
Beginning bakers will easily be able to decorate this simple turkey cookie. I'll show you photos of each step so you know exactly what to do.
Ingredients
All of the exact ingredient amounts are in the printable recipe card. First, here is what you'll need from the store:
- Chocolate chip cookie mix and ingredients to make cookies (usually softened butter and eggs)
- White frosting
- candy eyes
- chocolate Jimmie sprinkles
- pumpkin sprinkles
- red, yellow, orange and chocolate brown color gels

Directions
First, preheat the oven to 375 and grease a 12" pizza pan. Set aside.
Prepare chocolate chip cookie mix according to package directions.
Press dough evenly into prepared pan and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from oven and let stand to cool completely.
Once the cookie is cooled, divide frosting into fourths, placing each into a separate small bowl.
Add red, orange, yellow and chocolate brown food color gels, one color to each bowl and mix well.
Add additional color gels to get desired color.
Use a cake spatula to add a small amount of one of the three feather colors (red, orange or yellow) of icing to the back tip of the spatula.
Press and slide down onto the cookie to create a feather.
Wipe the spatula clean before using another color. Repeat until you have the desired number of feathers. You will have left over frosting, set it aside.
Add brown frosting to a pastry bag.
Snip the tip and pipe a body onto the turkey.
Add a head and then follow with wings.
Add candy eyes onto the turkey.
Place a small dollop of red and orange frosting into separate sandwich bags and snip the tip. Pipe legs and a beak in orange and the turkey's wattle in red.
With remaining icing, spread it in individual lines on a piece of plastic wrap.
Wrap up the frosting and snip one end of the plastic wrap.
Place the frosting into a pastry bag fitted with a star tip.
Pipe a border onto the cookie and add sprinkles and chocolate jimmies to the border.
How To Serve
Let stand for the frosting to set or cut and serve immediately. Store loosely covered at room temperature.
