I live just about 45 minutes from Key Largo, but somehow I haven't been down to the Keys in ages. I was craving a slice of key lime pie the other day and picked up a bottle of Key Lime juice at the grocery store with every intention of making key lime tarts...then life got in the way! While I was too busy to actually make Key Lime tarts, I wasn't too busy to make Angeline and I this quick and easy Key Limeade slush, only I added in a few cups of frozen strawberries in the fridge to sweeten them up for Angeline.

Funny enough, after I made this Key Limeade Slush using this bottled key lime juice, I remembered that our neighbors have a lime tree. And it hangs directly over our yard.

Possession is 9/10 of the law, right?

What a shame that they're not ripe yet!

You can also make this Key Limeade Slush recipe even easier by buying a jug of lemonade or limeade and just adding the strawberries and ice in a blender!

    Ingredients

    2 cups water
    1 cup sugar
1 cup key lime juice (freshly squeezed or not, it's up to you!
    2 cups frozen strawberries
    1 cup ice
(if using fresh strawberries, add two additional cups of ice)

    Directions

In a saucepan, bring water to a boil and add sugar, and remove from heat. Stir until it's melted and set in the refrigerator to cool.

In a blender (or a smoothie maker, if that's how you roll), blend the strawberries, ice and key lime juice until completely blended. Once the water and sugar is completely cooled, at it to the blended and blend thoroughly.

Garnish with fresh strawberries and a slice of key lime!

    Serves two!

I love cherry-limeade, and since I love strawberries, I'm sure I'll love this, too!

It's pretty awesome! LOL I wish I could do without the sugar, it would be totally healthy then...but mama likes her sugar! 😉

This looks SO good right now! I freeze our strawberries when they start to get soft and no one's going to eat them fast enough, and now I have a perfect way to use them in this summer heat. Thanks for sharing!

I could practically taste it. Sounds so refreshing but I'd definitely use lime juice that I don't have to squeeze myself, haha

Your key lime and strawberry slush looks refreshing. Since it is so hot outside right now I sure could use one.

I go for one of those right now. (I think I would put a dollop of whipped cream on top.)
