Step-by-Step Instructions for how to make Sausage and Cream Cheese Crescent Rolls
Let's get rolling (pun intended) on this sausage and cream cheese crescents! Here's how to craft these cream cheese sausage rolls with ease.
1. Cook the Sausage
Start by heating a skillet over medium heat. Add your ground sausage, breaking it up with a spatula as you cook. Stir frequently until well browned. If there’s excess grease, feel free to drain it.
2. Melt the Cream Cheese and Add the Tomatoes
Lower the heat to low and toss in the cubed cream cheese. Keep stirring until it's completely melted and creamy. Now stir in your can of Rotel for a pop of flavor and color. Remove the skillet from heat once everything is well combined.
3. Prep the Crescent Dough
Lay out wax paper on two baking sheets. Unroll your crescent dough sheets, placing one on each piece of wax paper.
Divide the cooked sausage mixture evenly, spreading half of it onto one crescent sheet and the rest onto the other. Leave about ½ inch of space along the edges to make rolling easier.
4. Roll It Up
Carefully roll up the crescent dough, starting from the short side. Use the wax paper as an aid if needed. Once rolled, place each log onto a baking sheet or cutting board. Pop these into the freezer for 1 hour—this step makes slicing so much easier.
5. Slice and Bake
When you’re ready to bake, preheat oven to 400°F. Remove the rolls from the freezer—don’t worry, they don’t need to be frozen solid, just firmed up. Slice each roll into 1-inch pieces (you should get about 8 slices per log).
Place the pieces cut-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake your sausage cream cheese crescents for 15–18 minutes, or until the bottoms are golden brown. The heavenly aroma filling your kitchen is your cue that they’re just about ready!
6. Serve Warm
Once baked, remove your rolls from the oven and let them cool for 5 minutes. Serve warm and prepare for the compliments to roll in.
