How to Make a Taco Ring Crescent Roll
This taco ring recipe is as fun to make as it is to eat! Follow these simple steps, and you’ll have the perfect dish in no time.
Step 1: Prep the Beef
Grab a large skillet and heat it over medium heat. Add your ground beef and cook, stirring frequently and breaking it apart until it’s beautifully browned. Once done, drain any grease and return the beef to your skillet.
- Add the taco seasoning and water to the beef. Stir it all together over medium heat until it’s hot, bubbly, and most of the liquid has reduced (about 3 minutes).
- Remove from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
Once the ground beef is seasoned, add the shredded cheese!
Step 2: Preheat & Prep the Crescent Roll Ring
Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Now comes the fun part—laying out your crescent rolls into a star-shaped ring!
- Picture a clock. Place triangles of dough at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock.
- Add another triangle between each of these four, and then a final set between those for a full star.
- Gently press the crescent triangles together at the base to form your crescent ring. Don’t worry—it may look a little uneven, but it will bake beautifully!
Step 3: Add the Filling
Once the beef mixture has cooled, stir in the shredded cheese (because cheesy tacos = happiness, right?). Spoon the beef and cheese mixture evenly onto the wide edge of your crescent roll star.
Carefully wrap the pointy ends of the crescent rolls over your filling and tuck them under the ring. It’s okay if a little filling peeks through—that just makes it look more delicious!
Step 4: Bake to Perfection
Pop the taco ring into your preheated oven and bake for 20–22 minutes, or until it’s golden brown and absolutely irresistible. Once baked, remove it from the oven and allow it to rest for about 5 minutes.
Step 5: Garnish & Serve
Here’s where the magic happens. Fill the center of your taco ring with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, sour cream, and a generous dollop (or bowl!) of salsa. Slice it up and watch everyone fight over the last piece!
Pro Tips for the Best Taco Ring
- Switch Up the Cheese: Try pepper jack or a Mexican cheese blend for extra flavor.
- Spice It Up: Add some diced jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce to your beef mixture if you like it spicy.
- Make It Vegetarian: Swap the ground beef with a plant-based alternative or seasoned black beans.
- Storage: If you somehow have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven to keep the crescent rolls crispy.
