The Secret Behind this Crispy, Chewy Chocolate Chip M&M’s Cookies Recipe
The first secret is that instead of butter, this Chocolate Chip M&M’s Cookies Recipe calls for vegetable shortening. I normally try to use baking substitutes to cut down on calories, fat and sugar – but sometimes you just have to go for it and indulge.
Sometimes.
Not all the time.
Which leads me to my second secret: this recipe calls for milk – I know, right?! The milk usually comes AFTER you’ve baked the cookies. Well, instead of adding milk, I added Fat Free & Sugar Free International Delight coffee creamer.
Seriously, all that vegetable shortening lends enough fat to this recipe, we don’t need any extra! It gives a tiny bit of extra flavor, but it’s just enough to take these cookies from awesome to OMGAWESOME.

Preheat oven to 375. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Beat all ingredients EXCEPT flour, M&Ms and chocolate chips until you have a crumbly mixture.
Add flour and beat at medium speed for about 30 seconds, until thoroughly combined.
Stir in M&Ms and chocolate chips.
Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto parchment paper-lined cookie sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 9 minutes.
NOTE: When you pull them out of the oven, they will NOT look “done” at all. They will be really light and dough-y. Do not put them back into the oven!! Let them sit on the cookie sheet for about a minute, then transfer to wire racks to cool. Once they begin to cool, you’ll notice them start to turn golden and firm up a lot.

Are you looking for ways to be healthier this year? You can cut calories, eat healthier foods and make small changes in your lifestyle that can lead to big results!
Of course you can start by using International Delight Fat Free & Sugar Free Coffee Creamers, but there are other ways too! When you go grocery shopping, park farther away from the store so that you get a little walk in. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, take a quick stroll around the office complex during your lunch break. Instead of a soda in the afternoon, drink a glass of ice water or unsweetened ice tea.
The only thing better than a cookie is a cookie with M&Ms in it! These look so good! Yum!
Those look yummy! I’ll have to make these with the kids this weekend. Thanks for sharing this recipe. We love to make cookies.
I am so glad Crispy M&M;s are back. I always loved them and was sad when they went away!
Those cookies look crispy and yummy! I would never have thought to use creamer in the recipe. You’ve given me a new way to use it!
Oh yummy! These look delicious. I love M&M cookies but u always find any that I find are hard! These sound perfectpe rfect!
That coffee creamer must add such a nice touch to those cookies. I need to try that out. It sounds so good.

These sound so good. Using International Delight instead of milk or cream is such a neat idea.
Cookies and coffee creamer sound like an amazing combo to me! I would gobble these cookies for sure!
Wow! Number One – Coffee Creamer? I’m addicted to creamer in my coffee, as it is. Adding to my cookies is such a great idea. Number Two – My mom used to use shortening in her cookie recipes, but I use butter. I’ll need to go back and try the shortening (not all the time). I cannot wait to try this recipe.
The shortening makes for a much chewier cookie, in my opinion! 🙂 I use butter in some recipes, though I usually substitute applesauce or coconut oil to make things healthier. But Crisco…it really makes for an awesome, chewy cookie with a crispy outside!
Those look super tasty. I love cookies and these paired with the creamer would be delightful. I love my international delight.
You can never go wrong with freshly baked cookies, but something about using M&Ms makes them even more special. I am definitely intrigued with using creamer too!
It’s official. My diet is over. I need to eat like a dozen of these immediately. I like crispy cookies. I like chewy cookies. I know I will adore crispy, chewy ones.
International Delight is a great way to make coffee taste better, and so many other things. I like this cookie recipe because I like chewy, crisp, chocolate, and M&Ms.
These would be great to bring to Easter dinner! Everyone would like these cookies I’m sure.
Yum, those cookies look tasty. I’ve never tried using coffee creamer in a recipe, that’s an interesting idea.
What a fun way to use the M&Ms. These look really tasty!
I am a sucker for a good chocolate chip m&m cookie. My mom used to make these when I was a kid because m&m used to be my favorite candy. I also love International Delights fat free sugar free creamers but I have yet to bake with them!
These look like delicious cookies. I will have to try this recipe this weekend. I am sure they will be a huge hit.
Yummy! M&Ms, cookies and creamer. Sounds so delicious. This is a must try!
