I love bacon, so it should come as no surprise that I use bacon in all sorts of ways, such as this Bacon Caramel Brownies Recipe.

It's pretty much my biggest reason for living right now, you know, besides just existence in general and my daughter, Angeline, of course. Bacon...I could write sonnets about my love affair with bacon.

The thing about bacon is...it's perfect ANY TIME OF DAY. How many foods can you say that about? You can make bacon for breakfast, you can include bacon in your appetizer recipes for parties, in your lunch and dinner recipes...you can EVEN USE BACON IN YOUR DESSERTS, like in this Bacon Caramel Brownies Recipe.

I am not even kidding. Bacon is one of those ingredients that is perfect for everything. I was super excited when I found out that Jimmy Dean® Applewood Smoked Bacon and Hickory Smoked Bacon were hitting store shelves at Walmart - even more so because I found an awesome $1 off coupon to give them a try!

I was challenged with coming up with a new bacon recipe, and I kind of felt like I'd done it all...but then I remembered...um, bacon in dessert? I don't think I've tried that yet! Why not try an ooey, gooey Bacon Caramel Brownies Recipe?

Directions to make this Bacon Caramel Brownies Recipe

In a saucepan over low or medium heat, add unwrapped caramels and ½ cup evaporated milk. Stir constantly until melted (on medium heat it takes about 8-10 minutes. If it gets too hot, remove from heat, and continue to stir. Or reduce heat and stir.) Set aside.

Grease and flour a 9x13 pan and preheat your oven to 350.

Mix together in a bowl cake mix, butter, ⅓ cup evaporated milk.

Press ⅔ batter into the bottom of prepared pan. Don't get discouraged here and let this be your Pinterest fail. The batter will stick and be hard to spread.

I use greased fingers (use cooking spray or butter left on wrapper) and take small amounts and flatten in the pan. Be patient. It can take a few minutes to get it into the pan.

    Bake for 8 minutes.

Remove pan from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top of brownie. Pour caramel over chocolate chips.

Sprinkle about ¾ of your bacon onto the caramel. Spoon remaining batter on caramel. I use my fingers, grab a little batter, flatten and place in the pan.

Bake 18-20 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle top with remaining bacon. Cool completely and refrigerate at least 1 hour.

I refrigerate mine overnight and cut in the morning.

They looked almost good enough to eat even when I was preparing them to cook. I resisted temptation though.

I know that all good things come to those who wait. Cut into squares and serve - I like mine cold from the fridge because they are firm this way and I kind of like a firm brownie (plus, they're easier for me to photograph for the blog this way - just keeping it real!).

    • ¾ cup butter softened
    • ⅓ cup evaporated milk
    • 1 cup chocolate chips

    Instructions

    2. Grease and flour a 9x13 pan.
    3. Preheat oven to 350
    4. Be patient. 5. Remove pan from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top of brownie. Pour caramel over chocolate chips. Sprinkle about ¾ of your Jimmy Dean® Applewood Smoked Bacon onto the caramel. Spoon remaining batter on caramel. I use my fingers, grab a little batter, flatten and place in the pan.

Now, I've purchased Jimmy Dean® Bacon at Walmart in the past, but I don't recall ever seeing these new Jimmy Dean® Applewood Smoked Bacon and Jimmy Dean® Hickory Smoked Bacon varieties before, so they must be BRAND NEW - or at least just hitting our local store shelves.

I loved that there was an instantly redeemable coupon on them at Walmart. It makes it so much more fun and exciting to try a new product when you can save money while doing it!

Head to your local Walmart and find these special packages of Jimmy Dean® Applewood Smoked Bacon and Jimmy Dean® Hickory Smoked Bacon with the Save $1 coupon attached and try them for yourselves!
