Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and grease a mini muffin pan with nonstick cooking spray. Even if it is nonstick, spray it down anyway – you don’t want the super thin wonton wrappers to stick and ruin the entire recipe!
Place the wonton wrappers into mini muffin tins and press them down into the bottom with a pastry shaper or simply by using your fingers.
Bake for 8 minutes or until browned. Remove from oven and let cool.
Place all of the chopped apples, butter, sugar, water and cinnamon into a sauce pan.
Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring it frequently until the apples are soft and no longer crunchy and liquid is almost absorbed, which should take about 20 minutes. Remove the apple mixture from the heat and let it cool down a bit until it is warm.
Spoon apple mixture into each wonton cup and serve immediately topped with whipped topping or refrigerate, covered until ready to serve.
Bring to room temperature before serving with whipped cream.
This recipe makes 24 cups.
