I drove up to Fort Lauderdale last week to board the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas with a carry on suitcase full of sundresses, sunscreen, bathing suits and a hopeful heart about all of the Things to do on the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas!
You see, not only was I cruising with Royal Caribbean for the first time, I was also a complimentary guest, courtesy of a #Brandcation blogger trip...which meant that if I didn't have a good time, I would have to come back here to tell you guys all about it!
As you could probably tell from my Instagram and Twitter feed, I had a fantastic time and loved the Liberty of the Seas! It is such a large ship, with so many things to do, that I am going to break it all down over a few posts over the next week. For now, we will focus on the staterooms and activities available.

Things to Do on Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas
Don't worry, we will get to the food - everyone's favorite part of a cruise - later on!
As soon as we boarded (we were given the VIP treatment and whisked past the check in lines, but they didn't seem that long anyway), I was SHOCKED by how big the ship was! As I made my way through the main corridor to my stateroom, I was in awe of how large and spacious it was!
I have been on about 10 cruises, mostly different ships, and I have never seen space like this inside a cruise ship before! I found out that the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas is actually the third largest cruise ship...in the world! It used to be the second largest, but a new ship recently displaced it by a mere 6 inches! Can you believe that?
Yes, that is inside the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas! This is the Royal Promenade, which offers shopping, Duty Free shops, bars and restaurants, an ice cream parlor and bakery, as well as a DreamWorks parade in the afternoons!
My stateroom was just as impressive. I thought I knew what I was going to walk into, as I've booked balcony staterooms before with other cruise lines. Once again, I was shocked by how big and spacious it was - my stateroom was so roomy and had everything my roommate and I needed for our 4 days on board.
We had a king sized bed, but we just asked our stateroom attendant to separate the beds and we came back to two twin beds after dinner. Super easy!
We had a mini fridge, lots of cabinets and drawers, a full sized sofa, nightstands and our bathroom was large as well.
I was a bit nervous about sharing a room with my friend, as I've always traveled with family when cruising in the past. You never know how you are going to do in a confined space with a new person! But we had plenty of space and got along fantastically.
We even gathered several other girls in our room on a few occasions for a glass of wine before dinner, and there was plenty of room.
A few things to note about your stateroom:
There is a safe in your closet, and I suggest that you use it for your important paperwork. It's really easy to lose track of your wallet or passport once you get settled in.
There is body wash in the shower, but you will have to bring along your own toiletries.
The pillows were a little firm for my liking, and I found out on our last day at sea that you can call your stateroom attendant and request feather pillows. If you don't like the pillows, ask your stateroom attendant for different ones.
If you have a balcony stateroom, make sure that you never have the balcony door open when the stateroom door opens - it will create an incredibly strong gush of wind that actually knocked over and broke a glass in our room!
Things to do on the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas
I am used to going on cruises and them mostly being about the pool and food. I was surprised to see just how many things Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas had to offer as far as activities and entertainment!
H20 Zone
If you are cruising with children, you will want to make the H20 Zone a priority! It's like a water park and wading pool for little ones, and it was always full of happy families!
The Wall
I have heard stories about the activities available on Royal Caribbean, but I must have forgotten that they had a real rock wall on the ship! The Wall is actually included in your ship reservation, so there is no extra fee if you want to try your hand at rock climbing!
The FlowRider is a 40-foot-long surf simulator right on the back of the ship! I have always wanted to surf, but I never did make it back to do it myself. The FlowRider is also included in the cost of your cruise, so there's no extra charge unless you would like a private surfing lesson.
Gamble Much?
I am not a gambler, but there is a huge casino on board the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas. My friends and I went one night and I spent $20 on the slot machines, another friend played Craps, while another was busy winning $250 on a slot machine!
Mini Golf at Sea
If you're in a golfing mood, head to the back of the ship and take advantage of the mini golf course! There is no additional fee, and the views are breathtaking!
Ice Skating
An ice-skating rink on a cruise ship? Yep, Royal Caribbean has it! They also offer amazing ice skating shows - believe me, you won't want to miss it!
Adult Fun & Entertainment
There are nightly Comedy Shows, Karaoke, the Vitality Spa, as well as a nightclub, The Catacombs, as well as plenty of bars spread throughout the ship. There are even dance lessons, wine tastings and scuba lessons in the pool available for a nominal fee.
On our first evening on board the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas, we heard music and went to investigate...we ended up finding a disco street party in the Royal Promenade!
Note: If you are used to cruise lines where the bars are all in the pool area, you might be shocked when you go upstairs to grab a cocktail and find that all of the bars are closed. The nighttime bars on the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas are all downstairs, like the Schooner Bar, which also features a piano player at certain times throughout the day, and in the Olive and Twist lounge on the 14th floor.
Keep an eye out while I share more about the Royal Caribbean Liberty of the Seas! In the meantime, I encourage you to check out all that Royal Caribbean has to offer on the Liberty of the Seas, as well as their other cruise ships!

You didn't want to snuggle with your roommie? Awwww! Mine and I decided not to snuggle too. Good thing since I ended up eating corn and turning into a gas tank. This was my first cruise and I'm completely spoiled now. I realize that. I guess Kyle's just going to have to suck it up and pay the big bucks for our vacations from now on. Although a cruise on Royal Caribbean, even with the balcony, is cheaper than our family vacation to Washington D.C. this winter, and most things in DC are free!

It was nice to see you again. I wish I didn't peter out so soon and could have stayed up late to experience more of the night life, but just can't function when I do that. So, next cruise I will plan for more of that.
