If you grow up in a tropical climate there is something about a palm tree that speaks to you. Whether I see them here in Florida, on a tropical island in the Caribbean or across the US in California, something about it feels like home.
Sprawling over 11 acres in Long Beach, Hotel Maya is surrounded by more than 400 palm trees in a fusion of tropical escape meets Latin flare. It's enough to make a girl from Miami feel like home.
Inside the newly renovated hotel rooms offer gorgeous views of the bay and gardens with the option of one king, or two queen beds featuring 400 thread count sheets.
They also come with all of the amenities you would expect including 37" LCD TVs, Desk, Internet Access, and balconies with select rooms. Other little perks include laundry and valet service, room service and and on site gift shop.
When hunger strikes Fuego Restaurant is located on site at Hotel Maya and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Led by award-winning Executive Chef Victor Juarez, Fuego offers coastal dishes of Mexico, Latin America and South America.
The restaurant specializes in mariscos (fresh seafood), including platters of shrimp, oysters, mussels and lobster, as well as ceviche.
Also featured is a generous array of antojitos (appetizers), as well as tacos, tortas and entrées.
But what's food without a cocktail? The bar serves premium tequilas - the largest selection in the region - as well as margaritas and signature cocktails.
In addition to the onsite amenities, the newly renovated Hotel Maya is mere minutes from all of the things Long Beach is known for. The hotel is moments away from the historic Queen Mary, the beach, the harbor, dozens of shops, restaurants, late-night clubs, art galleries, museums, entertainment venues, bike trails and more.
To help guest take advantage of the local entertainment options Hotel Maya offers rentals on bicycles and kayaks too. When you prefer to keep it low key, guests can also relax poolside at the waterfront pool with floating cabanas and fire pits.
Poolside dining is available from Fuego from 11-5pm.
The pool area at Hotel Maya is just amazing, I could literally spend the entire day there!
