The holidays are coming, and if you're like me, that means lots of travel. These travel tips will help you make the most of your travel. You'll want to maximize your travel from everything from saving money to making the most of your space.
Travel Tips to Keep Your Trip Smooth
A lot goes in to traveling. From packing to driving (or flying) to lodging on the road, travel requires keeping your ducks in a row. These travel tips will make sure those honkers stay in a nice, even file.
Planning
Planning is first and foremost on my list of travel tips. It plays a big part of everything you'll do on your trip. You can't just hop on the road and go. Well, you can, but it won't go as smoothly as you think! When you're setting up your trip, you can never do too much planning. Map out the best route and research hotels along that route. Planning will also help you decide when to leave. If you're staying with family, you don't want to arrive at the door at 10 PM.
GPS
If you're driving, make sure you have a good GPS on hand. Notice, I said good. You want a GPS that will give you real time traffic updates and alternate routes should there be any traffic jams or accidents. A good GPS can save you a ton of time when you're driving.
Travel Apps
Travel Apps are indispensable whether you're driving or flying. There are so many travel apps out there, and they cover everything from finding gas stations with the best prices to local restaurants and everything in between. Hit Google Play or iTunes to search for the travel apps that suit your trip.
Packing
Packing is another big one on my list of travel tips. Whether you're flying or driving, efficient packing is important to save space. For starters, roll everything you can. Whether it's jeans, t-shirts, socks, or underwear, roll them. Rolling clothes saves lots of space, which is great because it saves you time when flying, and it saves space in your car.
Another tip is to pack any liquids in resealable bags. That way, if you have a spill, it will be contained.
Use Your Points
Maybe the biggest of my travel tips is to use your credit card rewards points. If you're flying, use those miles. If you're driving, redeem your points for gift cards or other useful items that will help you on your trip.
Earn Points While You Travel
One of the best ways to earn points for travel is with the Double Stay, Double Go promotion.. Through the month of November 2015, Marriott Rewards Premier and eligible United MileagePlus Credit Cards from Chase are working together to offer this limited time opportunity to earn double rewards on Marriott and United purchases.
During the promotion, Marriott Rewards Premier cardmembers earn double points on United purchases and United MileagePlus Explorer, Club, and Presidential Plus cardmembers earn double miles on Marriott purchases.
That means that using Marriott Rewards Premier and eligible United MileagePlus credit cards from Chase to book your next trip will earn you double the points. Hey, you're traveling anyway, you might as well get a ton of points on top of it! And with over 4,000 Marriott Hotels and 362 flight destinations from United worldwide, it's easier than ever to earn on United flights and Marriott stays.
