Storing Homemade Gingerbread Houses
I recommend storing your Valentine Gingerbread House in an airtight container to keep it from going stale. I personally use a cake carrier for things that don't fit into my glass cake stand. This is also a great way to transport your Valentine's Day Gingerbread House to parties!
Top tips for the best Valentine Gingerbread House
Use a real/glass plate or a very sturdy paper plate or cake plate to put your house onto. Because this is "normal" frosting, it doesn't harden and set up like Royal icing does. You can use a knife vs a pastry bag, but your frosting might be a little messier.
Since this is tub frosting, you can easily reposition and move your work after it's been partially assembled, which allows you to make a nice little house.
It seems to work best if you follow the "lines" of the graham crackers. For example, the roof line is horizontal and the sides of the house are vertical. You can certainly do a dry build and hold the pieces together to make sure you frost the correct edges.
