If you're in the mood for a getaway, check out these 5 Ways to Make the Most of Your Key West Vacation!
If you've been around my site for a while, then you know how much I love the Florida Keys. They are right in my backyard, after all, and one of the easiest places for a quick weekend trip when I want to get away from it all.
There are so many things to do and see in the Florida Keys, but Key West happens to be my very favorite, and it's usually where I go! It's so easy to plan a Key West Vacation using Expedia.com, so it's been our website and app of choice for the past many years.
This post is written in collaboration with Expedia.com, all opinions are my own.
5 Ways to Make the Most of Your Key West Vacation
First things first...
Find a Great Hotel Using Expedia
There are SO MANY hotels, bed and breakfasts as well as motels and other options, but I always book my accommodations through Expedia.com - for a few reasons.
You are shown a huge selection of properties, all rated and sorted however you like.
- Expedia Rewards members get special pricing or discounts on certain properties (if you're not familiar with the FREE Expedia Rewards program, check it out!). Also, make sure to download the Expedia app as there are perks associated with the app!
- Many properties allow you to make a reservation and pay once you arrive.
- You can find no-penalty cancellation reservations, just in case something comes up!
- There are TONS of reviews from previous customers.
I've never been steered wrong when it comes to a hotel recommendation by Expedia.com!
Get Out on the Water
Next, make sure you take FULL advantage of all of that beautiful Florida sunshine by arranging activities on the water! There are jet ski rentals, kayaking adventures, fishing charters, snorkeling charters and my very favorite...sunset cruises.
I refuse to go to Key West without going on at least one sunset cruise. I had a trip to Key West with a boyfriend in 2016 and we did a sunset cruise EACH night we were there!
I have millions of photos of the most beautiful sunsets I've ever seen, all taken right there in Key West.
Of course, it's just as fun to be out on the water in the daytime!
You can find a comprehensive list of things to do in Key West on Expedia, of course! You can also search "Key West" in the search bar of my blog to get a list of articles I've written about Key West.
Bring a Friend Who Loves to Have Fun!
I've been to Key West with my ex husband, an ex boyfriend, groups of friends, as well as just "quiet" weekend getaways.
There are so many different ways to have fun in Key West, but I have found that I personally prefer to go with my girlfriends - they like tanning more than most men I know!
Whomever you go on your Key West vacation with, I recommend that they enjoy libations and delicious food just as much as you do!

Do the Duval Crawl
Whether you stop for a cocktail at each establishment along Duval street, or simply stop and try a bite to eat from one of the many amazing restaurants, you have to spend some time along this iconic street!
My favorite is Sloppy Joes, but Willy T's, The Bull, Irish Kevin's and Hogsbreath are also great fun bars that always have live music!
Believe me, with the weather in South Florida, you're going to want to stop and get out of the heat with one of the amazing mojitos at Willy T's!
A few restaurants to note are Onlywood, Louie's Backyard and Santiago's Bodega. You won't be disappointed!
See The Iconic Sights of Key West
There are so many iconic sights in Key West, and I try to make sure that I visit them for a new photo on each subsequent visit. Yes, it's a bit cheesy, but it is SO MUCH FUN - and makes for great new profile photos!
The Southernmost Point and Mile Marker 0 are my favorite, but the classic Captain Tony's Saloon with that big fish is a fun one too!
Fun fact: Legend has it that if you throw a coin into the fishes mouth, you'll have good luck...but I have never been able to do it myself. You have to stand backwards and throw it over your head for it to count!
