It's almost May...and that means that it's almost CINCO DE MAYO! Now, while many people enjoy tequila year-round - hello, people doing shots at the bar! - I typically only drink Tequila when it's in a margarita.
With Cinco De Mayo coming up in a few weeks, I thought it would be fun to share these 5 Tequila Cocktail Recipes to Elevate Your Cinco De Mayo - as well as for the rest of the year! 5 Tequila Cocktail Recipes to Elevate Your Cinco De Mayo
Gold Rush
2 oz. Blue Nectar Reposado Special Craft
3 tablespoons crushed pineapple
1 sage leaf
½ oz. lemon juice
¾ oz. agave nectar
Combine all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Top with ice and shake vigorously. Strain over crushed ice. Garnish with pineapple & sage leaf.
La Colmena
2 oz. Blue Nectar Silver
¾ oz. fresh lemon juice
¾ oz. honey syrup
2 cucumber wheels (one for garnish)
Powdered cayenne pepper
Lightly muddle cucumber with honey syrup and lemon juice. Add tequila and shake with ice. Strain into a coupe. Dust with cayenne pepper and garnish with a cucumber wheel.
Mexipolitan
1 ½ oz. Blue Nectar Reposado Extra Blend
1 oz. simple syrup
1 oz. cranberry juice
¾ oz. orange liqueur
4 lime quarters and 1 lime wheel
Muddle the lime quarters with the simple syrup. Add the tequila, orange liqueur and cranberry juice. Top with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with lime wheel.
Mula
1 ¾ oz. Blue Nectar Reposado Special Craft
¾ oz. lime juice
½ oz. Monin Desert Pear ® Syrup
Ginger beer
Place all ingredients into cocktail shaker except ginger beer. Shake. Strain into highball glass and top off with ginger beer. Garnish with 3 thin slices of pear & cinnamon stick.
Paloma
2 oz. Blue Nectar Silver
1 oz. fresh grapefruit juice
½ oz. fresh lime juice
¼ oz. simple syrup
2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters (floated)
Club soda
Combine tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice and simple syrup into a Collins glass. Stir ingredients with ice. Top with club soda and then add the Peychaud’s bitters,
creating an even float. Garnish with a grapefruit twist. Note: you may substitute grapefruit soda for fresh grapefruit juice and club soda.
