This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of PERK. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you have a family, you know exactly how funky the car can get. Between sports practices, taking the dogs to the groomer, spilling food and drink and other messes, our cars and trucks can get truly funktastic. There are some things you can do, however, to combat the stink and Perk up the interior of your car!

Perk Up Your Ride

There are a few things you can do to perk up your car’s interior to keep it looking it nice and keep it smelling oh-so-fresh. Most of these are basic maintenance, but it’s surprising how many people simply don’t think to do them!

Vacuum and Dust Your Vehicle Regularly

This is one that should go without saying, but I’ve seen some spectacularly grungy car interiors!

perk 2

To perk up your interior, vacuum it regularly, including in all the cracks and crevices. That gets out all the food, pet hair, dirt, and anything else that makes your car generally gritty and gross.

Clean up Messes WHEN They Happen

Clean up messes as soon as they happen. Every spill in your car contributes to the level of stink in your car. Clean up spills as soon as possible to prevent a stinky situation. This is especially true of dairy spills – they get quite ripe if they aren’t addressed right away.

Your Car Isn’t a School Gym Locker

So don’t store your gym clothes in there! This is one that’s really just so gross. Perk up your interior by taking a proactive step to keeping it stink-free. Don’t let your gym clothes just sit around in your car. That smell will sink into the interior. It’s a difficult scent to get out!

Tip: Shower at the gym or drape a thick towel over your seat on the way home to prevent sweat from soaking into your seat.

Air it Out

If you want to kick start the perk up process, air that interior out after its all sparkly and clean. Just like you air dry clothes to get a nice fresh scent, you can air out your car to allow any old smells to dissipate. Your car’s interior is SUCH a small area, sometimes it take a nice long air out to finally get rid of some of the most stubborn odors, like when you don’t roll your window up all the way during a rain storm and the car starts smelling a little mildew-y!

Get a Good Freshening System

After you’ve gotten all the initial de-stinking out of the way, and you’ve set yourself up for maintaining a nice-smelling interior, the last step to perking up your car is using PERK.

I have had a banana that got left in my car, and it got way overripe and I do not like that smell!

Oh no! I have had moments like that…it’s usually a fast food bag that my daughter left in the car. Yuck!

My car interior could definitely use some perking up. It’s a mess in there.

Being able to keep it out of the way is great. Our car is never clean, though we are trying a lot harder with our new to us minivan. Leather seats are a huge help also!

I get REALLY bad about keeping my car clean in the winter. It is just too cold to be outside cleaning it. Now that it is spring it is looking better!

Ok, I am awful at keeping my car clean. I have a good reason for it – I live about an hour from work so – I do my makeup in the car, I have my flip flops, I have my work shoes, I have old drinks, I have everything – throw 2 kids in the mix and forget it. Disaster city! Love that Perk has subtle ways in keeping your car smelling good. I’m going to need like 10 of those!

These are great tips! My daughter spilt milk underneath her seat one time and I did not know about it for about a week! That had to be the worst smell that has ever been in my car.

I love how discreet these are! It is amazing how quickly the car goes downhill when the kids are involved!

The worst car smell that I encountered had to be when I left a bag of tomatoes in my trunk for the weekend in the summer – ugh, awful!!
