Life is all about being busy, isn’t it? We walk faster, we eat faster, we upgrade our technology quicker than ever before and we just don’t stop moving. There are expectations on us – well, it feels that way – to be good in our jobs, make the bills on time, have a balanced social life and in all that, we have to feel good. You may have seen those triangle illustrations about life, but if you haven’t, they go like this...
Successful career. Successful relationship. Tidy house.
Now, you must choose two options to keep. Whichever two you choose, you go without the last one. This is absolutely spot on about life for most people right now, because you can bet that trying to spin all those plates is just not easy. And what about yourself in all that stuff you’re worrying about? What about looking after you? Self-care is a difficult concept for a lot of people, because everyone is busy making other people happy, which is lovely, but it’s not practical. It’s all about balance; using your weekends to travel to far-flung places or choosing the perfect furniture for your house if these are things that soothe your soul. It’s all about making yourself happy while trying to keep everything else moving. Making positive changes in your career, relationship and your living situation are all going to help you to develop a good self-care regime. So, what changes could you make this week, so that you have a better balance of everything in your life?
- Redecorate. Renovation is cathartic, as is shopping. We mentioned taking yourself furniture shopping at the weekend to reimagine a space that you’ve already got sussed. Checking out Ted & Stacey’s Mattress-Guides.net can help you along your way to making your bedroom somewhere you want to find a little peace. The hard work that goes into stripping back a room and buying all new things for it is enough to soothe.
- Reinvigorate. A spa weekend, you say? Well, travel is always on the agenda and if you can source a nifty little spa hotel in the next town over that will be there for you to relax in, then all the better. Seek out the sights and make a day of somewhere new, then sink into a massage and a swim in the evening.
- Reimagine. Your wardrobe needs an overhaul; after all, there’s a new season right ahead of us that requires Uggs and pumpkin spice lattes, right? Right. So, take yourself to get new, seasonal pieces that look great.
- Reconnect. Date night is the best way to spend a Saturday evening. Going out with your partner to reconnect over a meal, bowling or something fun that you both enjoy is a good way to make your soul sing.
Self-care comes in many forms, but as long as whatever you do makes you happy, then making changes can only be a completely positive way to spend a weekend. Put a happy smile on; life is good.
