If you own and enjoy riding motorcycles, you should not let your affinity for danger affect the safety of your vehicle. After working hard and saving money to buy a motorbike, you should take measures to protect it.

Unlike cars, it is difficult to secure a motorcycle because they do not have a body; hence it is challenging to devise anti-theft measures for them. You should never leave your bike exposed and unprotected. You should definitely consider Motorcycle Security And Anti-Theft: Ways To Save Your Vehicle if you have a motorcycle!

Motorcycle Security And Anti-Theft: Ways To Save Your Vehicle

The following are motorcycle security and anti-theft tips that will save your vehicle:

    Careful About Where You Park

Motorcycle security and safety begins with where you park it, whether for a shortstop or overnight while sleeping. Since a motorcycle is so easy to hijack, you should always ensure that you park it in a safe and secure parking structure.

You may have to pay more for secure parking, but it will undoubtedly be cheaper than losing your bike by parking it anywhere. If you have access to a garage with a closed door and other security measures, you should store your bike there at night. When parking your motorcycle, you should never forget to lock the steering and ignition and take the keys with you.

If on a motorcycle trip and you have to park it in the open, you should always park it somewhere visible and maintain a direct line of sight.

    Storage Space

Sometimes, you have to leave your motorcycle somewhere for an extended period. It is during such periods when the bike is unattended that it is at the greatest risk of theft. Therefore, you should look for a secure space to store your motorcycle for as long as you want. Motorcycle storage units are a viable option for storage space.

You only need to determine how much space you need and how much it will cost you. Storage units have round the clock security, giving you the best chance for storage unless you know someone else whose property can offer the same level of protection.

    Get A Disc Lock

Many motorcyclists use disc locks to reduce the chances of their prized motorcycles getting stolen. Disc locks are devices that pass through your brake disc so that the disc can’t spin around without the lock hitting the caliper.

Most modern motorcycles have disc locks, but they will only function to prevent a thief who wants to ride away with your bike. If a thief has a van or truck onto which they can load the bike, they can still steal it.

However, disc locks will deter most motorcycle theft as most thieves are unprepared and do not have the tools or the planning capability to steal your bike.

Some disc locks include built-in alarms that alert you whenever someone touches the disc lock or your bike. It is better to get a disc lock than a brake lock, and they don’t take up too much space.

Buy A Heavy Duty Chain And Ground Anchor

Using heavy, hardened chains and a ground anchor is a great combination to prevent the theft of your motorcycle. Ground anchors are meant for garages and parking structures as they are cemented to the ground or fastened using strong bolts that are extremely difficult to cut.

You should ensure that you attach the entire bike’s frame and not the wheel alone when using a ground anchor. The same goes for a chain; no matter how strong and big it is, loop it around the entire frame. The chain or lock should also be above the ground so thieves cannot use the ground to break them.

There are several ways to prevent thieves from stealing your bike and ensuring it is secure. If you are careful about where you park your bike, find safe storage space, get a disc lock and use a heavy-duty chain or ground anchor, you will deter most thieves. However, they are not conclusive measures, and a combination is always best.
