We all know how stressful it can be to move into a new home, whether you are renting, buying, moving in with roommates, etc...it's just never an easy process, is it? I've lived in my current home for 20 years...YES, TWENTY YEARS! I plan to move next year, and I am honestly already dreading the hassle, especially since I do not know how long I will end up living in that next location. Moving away from Miami for the first time in my adult life is a huge deal!
While my move is still a while away, there are people all over the country moving into new homes during the busy holiday season, and this No Place Like (a New) Home for the Holidays article on CORT’s blog aims to help make the transition a little easier!
In CORT's No Place Like (a New) Home for the Holidays article, the goal is to help minimize feelings of stress and loneliness for those moving during the holidays. CORT enlisted the help of life coach Catharine Ecton, who specializes in new beginnings, for a little advice and I love her words of wisdom!
“Be adventurous,” she advises. “Leave behind your old traditions and begin to build new ones. Put yourself in a positive mindset of finding opportunities to learn and discover different traditions.”
If you are moving with family, it's especially important to make the transition as seamless and well, FUN, as possible for the kids during the holidays! It's the perfect time to start new holiday traditions to help the children adjust to the change and get excited about moving into their new home. Ecton recommends things like buying new holiday decor for the new home, meeting neighbors and getting involved in the new community.
The No Place Like (a New) Home for the Holidays article is full of great advice for people preparing for their move, and while it's focused on the holiday season, I think that the tips work well for every time of year, so go check it out!
