List of Kitchen Essentials for a New Home
Of course, a kitchen is always at its best when fully stocked, but you might not know which items and appliances you should have on your starter kitchen essentials list. There are over 20 kitchen tools and equipment that you can choose from, and most things on your kitchen items list will depend on your personal preferences, but there are a few kitchen items that we think are must haves, and we are here to share some of them. If this is something you’re interested in, then keep reading! We are going to cover everything from why you should buy a cast iron skillet to why a salad spinner will help you make the most of your meal plans.
What are the basic kitchen tools and equipment?
If you are just moving into your first apartment or house, one of the first things to do is create your kitchen essentials checklist. Even if you are a beginner home cook, it is important to make sure that your kitchen is fully stocked with these cooking essentials to give you the best advantage once you are living on your own in a new place. With the essential kitchen properly set up, you will be fully prepared to do everything from meal plan for your workday lunches to baking weekend desserts to hosting dinner parties for friends and family!
A whetstone
A whetstone or sharpening stone is something that everyone should have in their kitchen because it’s bound to make your life more convenient. After all, no matter how well you take care of your knives, they will eventually lose their edge and become blunt. Most people either get rid of blunt knives or keep using them, even if it’s difficult and inconvenient.
Luckily, there’s a third option, and that is to get a whetstone. Whetstones, also known as sharpening stones, are an easy way of sharpening your knives so that they are more effective in the kitchen.
Don't forget to buy Cutting Boards for your kitchen!
Whether you choose to invest in plastic cutting boards or wooden cutting boards, this is a must have item for your basic kitchen needs list.
Stainless Steel Kitchen Essentials
Stainless Steel Skillet - While some people prefer to cook with a cast iron skillet, I realize that they can be a bit intimidating. I personally prefer to use a stainless steel skillet because they are easier to clean and maintain.
Stainless Steel Measuring Cups - Of course you can use plastic measuring cups, but I love stainless steel because they tend to last a lot longer. Just make sure tht your set includes a quart stainless steel cup.
All of the things you need in a kitchen
A bottle opener
A bottle opener is another must-have item since it can be very hard to open bottles without it. Plus, you can get custom-made or engraved bottle openers to add a personal and aesthetic touch to your kitchen.
Even if you aren’t a regular alcoholic drinker, bottle openers are great for big bottles of other drinks as well, such as sparkling water or non-alcoholic drinks. You may also enjoy keeping a bottle of wine on hand for cooking. And of course, if you are someone who enjoys a drink or often has guests over, a bottle opener is essential. There are also loads of different options when it comes to which bottle opener to choose. For example, you can look into a pull-tab bottle opener.
Kitchen Cookware Essentials
Of course, our list of kitchen items includes the essentials for the kitchen, as even the minimalist kitchen essentials list includes things you absolutely must have to cook!
One of my top kitchen essentials cookware items includes a good quality glass baking dish, mixing bowls, baking sheet or sheet pan. When you spend a lot of time cooking your own food, you find that the oven becomes the centerpiece of your kitchen!

A blender
While a blender might be one of the pricier items to include in your kitchen equipment checklist, there is no denying that it is worth the investment to get a quality blender. You can also use a blender to make things like soups, sauces, and dips – the possibilities are nearly endless.
You also don’t need to get the biggest, most expensive stainless steel blender out there. A small handheld blender is a good place to start if you are checking Amazon or other websties. However, if you are looking for the perfect blender, you can look at some of the best blenders to buy in 2023.

Miscellaneous Kitchen Essentials You Will Not Regret Buying
A vegetable peeler
If you are someone who regularly cooks vegetables or makes a lot of dishes and snacks using fresh fruits, then investing in a good peeler is bound to make your life easier. This is especially true if you do meal planning! As opposed to using a paring knife, with a vegetable peeler, you will be able to peel potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, and more in a matter of minutes, without your hands cramping up and with less risk of accidentally hurting yourself.
Of course, there are ways of peeling potatoes without a peeler, but if you are looking for an item that will save you time and energy, a peeler is definitely the way to go.
Baking Supplies List for your Kitchen
Stand Mixer
If you love to cook, and baking is your thing, then a high quality stand mixer is definitely one of the things you need for the kitchen. While an immersion blender is incredibly versatile kitchen tool you can use to make desserts like milkshakes, or breakfasts smoothies, they don't hold up well to making cookie dough and cake batter.
