It's a brand new year and quite honestly, the beginning of a brand new life for me! 2016 started off completely unlike any other year for me...
I am single for the first time in my adult life, and while I didn't make any serious New Year's Resolutions, I did resolve to take better care of myself this year.
I began working on myself - both emotionally, mentally and physically - in the beginning stages of my divorce last summer, but I am more resolved than ever to get back into great shape and get HEALTHY too in 2016!
I feel so much better when I am taking good care of myself, and I think I look better too! Healthy = HAPPY.
Guilt Free Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
One of my biggest problems with my "let's get into shape" goals is that I really love to eat. No, I mean, I REALLY LOVE TO EAT.
Baked goods are my biggest downfall, so I have been experimenting with some of my favorite recipes over the last few months to find ways to make them more weight-loss friendly.
I've eliminated most sugar from my diet because I find that it really helps me maintain my weight loss, and I've started using SPLENDA® Sweetener Products in a lot of my baking so that I can still enjoy homemade sweets without sacrificing the actual sweetness!
Tips for Cooking & Baking with SPLENDA® Sweetener Products
You can use SPLENDA® Sweetener Products for all kinds of cooking and baking, but especially when used to sweeten in recipes. Just make sure to follow the conversion instructions, as it does not always convert cup-for-cup for sugar.
It works really well with citrus to enhance the flavors and does a great job in baked goods like cookies and cakes!
I made my own little sweet swap by trying to make one of my favorite easy chocolate chip cookie recipes lower in sugar and fat.
Basically just made some adjustments to make it a little more weight loss-friendly.

I am curious. What was the purpose of the unsweetened applesauce? Hard to get in the high desert of california.
Also I'm thinking of rolling the dough out, without chips, sprinkled with unsweetened cocoa powder, adding the chips, rolling and freezing to get a nice uniform size in wax paper. Take out after an hour, cut with a sharp knife (actually a drywall blade; they are sharp and safe to handle). Defrost on a baking sheet and cook.
I might add toasted walnuts too. I like those and few people have allergies to walnuts.

I used unsweetened applesauce because I was trying to keep calories and sugar content low for this recipe. You can definitely use regular applesauce!
