Growing up, cereal was a staple at our house, and even today you will find boxes of it lining my pantry shelf. It's a staple food and comfort food. It pairs perfectly with Saturday morning cartoons (even as an adult), it's an ideal late night snack for those of u who like to munch, it doesn't take much to turn it into a delicious dessert and I've definitely used it as an I'm-too-lazy-to-cook-dinner meal replacement. Breakfast for dinner, anyone? It's the gift the keeps on giving. I would know, we've been doing a lot of gift giving in our house lately. Mothers Day, Fathers Day, so many birthdays...I never realized how many holidays there were in such a short time that honor the influential people in our lives.
And while a box of cereal may not be the most exciting gift someone has ever received, it's definitely one that will put a smile on their face. Few things are cherished more than a gift that wasn't expected. You never know when that small act of kindness can turn a person's entire day around. Giving them an extra pep in their step and letting them know that someone out there is thinking of them, someone cares. It's these simple, random acts of thoughtfulness that keep the people you care about close. Cheerios and Walmart have partnered up for the #GetOneGiveOne movement. What a lovely idea! We love Cheerios, it is such a versatile food. Not just as a cereal, but as a snack, snack mix, homemade snack bars, etc.

I haven't had Cheerios in forever. I'm overdue. We like them too, so I'm not sure why we quit picking them up. I guess because we're in such a hurry in the mornings we drive through DD or something. I am getting some. 🙂

Way to go Cheerios! The apple cinnamon variety is my personal favorite and I love supporting brands that give back.
