This post is sponsored by Paramount Pictures, but all opinions are my own.
Love and marriage are those sorts of things that come and go for some of us. In my circle of friends, we are all divorced or remarried...so when I heard about the movie, Book Club, I knew that this was a movie that my girls and I HAD TO SEE! Can we get any more relate-able? Sure, we may not be widows, but we know all too well what it's like to suddenly be single after a long marriage. I arranged a Girls' Night In to watch the movie, and of course, I had to provide snacks and refreshing adult beverages! I created this Lychee Sangria Recipe to go along with our fun Girls' Night In to celebrate the release of Book Club on Blu-ray!
You can purchase your copy of BOOK CLUB and make plans to watch it at home this weekend. The release includes hilarious bonus content, like the making of the film, deleted scenes, and more!
About BOOK CLUB
Diane (Diane Keaton) is recently widowed after 40 years of marriage. Vivian (Jane Fonda) enjoys her men with no strings attached. Sharon (Candice Bergen) is still working through a decades-old divorce. Carol’s (Mary Steenburgen) marriage is in a slump after 35 years.
Four lifelong friends have their lives turned upside down to hilarious ends when their book club tackles the infamous Fifty Shades of Grey. From discovering new romance to rekindling old flames, they inspire each other to make their next chapter the best chapter.
In the film, the women get together to discuss the latest book they’re reading but end up talking about so much more. Supporting, encouraging, and enjoying each other. Isn't this what always happens when the gals get together to talk about books? We delve into everything else going on in our lives...
Isn't that what friendship is all about? Most of my girlfriends have been in my life for 10-25 years, and this is totally us. We lift each other up when the dating world lets us down, we celebrate when one of us finds a new romance...friendships like these are what life is made of!
I would have never made it through my divorce, or the last three years of living in the single world, without the love and support of my girlfriends. Book Club reminds me just how important it is to spend as much time as possible with your girls! Sure, some of us are perfectly happy being single, but others aren't. One of my best friends is 48, is divorced with an adult child and a grandchild - and she just got engaged, proving that it’s never too late to live your life to the fullest and find love. Love doesn't have an expiration date, and neither does pursuing your dreams. I recently did something I thought I'd never do...I went on camera and shot a series of videos about my divorce. My girls texted me nonstop that day to support me!

We have Girls' Night Our and Girls' Night In all the time, but I wanted to do something a little special for this at home viewing party, so I made this Lychee Sangria. Lychees are INCREDIBLY POPULAR in Miami, and I hope the trend spreads around the country!
Lychee Sangria Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 can of Lychees - or fresh lychees if they're in season where you live
- a pint of raspberries
- a quart of strawberries
- one orange
- one lemon
- 1 bottle of sweet wine - I prefer a Reisling
- 1 can of lime seltzer
Directions
Slice your fruit into quarters, and drain most of the liquid from the lychees (if you're using canned).
This recipe is really so simple - I don't add liquor to my sangria, just wine!
I prefer to garnish with a lychee and strawberry, I think it just makes the Lychee Sangria Recipe just a little more festive!
Add as much wine - or as little - as you'd like, and top it off with lime seltzer.
Then it's time to invite the girls over, pop in that BOOK CLUB Blu-ray and sit down for some girl talk...and a lot of laughter!
