When Valentine's Day rolls around, I like adding little pink touches around the house. Even though we don't make a big deal out of the holiday, my inner girly-girl starts craving pink! I think it might be genetic...anyway, I hate spending a fortune on season home decor, so I've started scouring Pinterest each season for easy DIY Valentine's Day craft ideas! And when I'm super lazy, like I have been this past week after getting back from Vegas, I look to my friends to come up with ideas for me. Deb at Just Short of Crazy made these adorable DIY Valentine's Day Pomander Balls for me to share with you guys today!
Hey, you can't blame a girl for outsourcing, can you?
These Valentine's Day DIY Pomander Balls are just what I need hanging from my kitchen cabinets and doorknobs! They're so cute and pretty easy to make too!
DIY Valentine's Day Pomander Balls Tutorial
Supplies
60-2 inch x 2 inch fabric squares cut, using pinking shears, from coordinating fabric
1-2 inch Styrofoam ball
Hot glue gun with additional glue sticks
Pencil
Directions
Note: Cutting the fabric from pinking shears keeps the fabric from fraying on the edges and gives a nice look. Medium weight cottons work best, but play around and use a variety of fabrics. Everything from tulle to flannel has been used to make these.
Step 1: Wrap fabric around pencil tip.
Step 2: Add a small amount of hot glue to tip of fabric.
Step 3: Insert pencil into Styrofoam ball. Remove pencil. Fabric will stay in place.
Step 4: Repeat until ball is completely covered. Fabric can be as close together or as far apart as you like.
Step 5: Cut a strip of fabric for the hanger. Fold strip of fabric in half and hot glue the ends together. Insert the hot-glued end of the fabric into the Styrofoam ball using the steps above.
