Display cases are often overlooked when it comes to interior design, but they shouldn’t be. When used correctly, these cases could spice things up a bit and make things look quite modern. The following are a few display case design tips for collectibles and other things you want to display.

Descriptive Labels

One thing you can do for your case is getting descriptive. For example, a display case of pre owned Rolex watches with brief descriptions printed on little labels placed next to each watch. Of course, you want nice signage if you’re displaying these types of watches. This works because it gives folks a reason to look at your display case and learn something at the same time. A little nugget of information can make people curious. That curiosity will help ensure people fall in love with your display case, and they will probably ask questions, which will get a conversation going.

Stick With a Theme

The next thing you may want to consider is a theme. Some folks like to place any old thing in their display case as long as it’s valuable. This usually doesn’t work. It could make your display case look disorganized and not appealing. That’s not what you want. You want your display to look great, and if you want that, then make sure you not only choose a theme but stick with it. For example, if you’re going to display baseball memorabilia, that should be the only thing there. If you have other collectibles, consider buying additional display cases to have their own theme. Just be sure you have enough room for these cases.

Vintage Design Approach

The vintage design could work in your favor. Everyone knows that display cases are usually associated with grandparents, and you can use that to stand out. Sometimes, a home looks too modern. It makes sense that you would have many modern pieces. New stuff looks great and comes with additional functions you probably want to keep. Still, if everything in your house looks modern, you need something to make a statement and what better way to do this than with a vintage display case. This piece will make your home look modern yet stylish; it’s the perfect place to store items of value.

Lighting Makes a Difference

Lighting could also make your display case look more appealing. While the lighting in the room should help folks see what you’re displaying, adding internal lighting adds a sense of sophistication that your guests won’t be able to resist. On top of that, internal and under-cabinet lighting makes your beautiful collectibles stand out. It’s like you’re shining a spotlight on everything in your case. All the little details will be fully visible, which makes your display look much more unforgettable. People love clarity, especially when it comes to collectibles. Having internal lights also makes the pieces look spectacular at night when everything is dark.

Telling a Story Works

It might be a good idea to tell a story with your arrangement. If you’ve got collectibles that match and can also tell a story, then use that to your advantage. This allows you to not only show off the items you’ve collected but gives you a great conversation starter. People are interested in collectibles but even more so in the stories. You will captivate guests if you arrange things in a way that makes it easy to move on to the next story and the next. Don’t forget the other tips; items that belong together should stay together, and items that don’t should stay that way.

You can do some things to display your collectibles or other items you want to share with people. Get as creative as you can. After all, you’re displaying what’s precious to you, so it’s okay to make it your own.
