A Day on the Set of Melissa & Joey

While in LA last month, I fulfilled one of my dreams from my teens: I met Joey Lawrence and Melissa Joan Hart!!! My lucky group of bloggers spent the morning on the set of ABC Family's Melissa & Joey!

Melissa and Joey is a half-hour comedy that follows Mel, the grown-up former wild child of a political family, who is now a local politician herself. When her sister ends up in prison and her brother-in-law flees after a scandal hits, Mel must take responsibility for her niece and nephew. Help comes in the unlikely form of Joe, who moves in and becomes the family’s manny.

We were treated to an advanced screening on the season premiere episode the evening before, and I was really excited to visit the set! This was to be my first visit to a television set an I was so excited!

We watched the filming for a short while and were treated to a behind the scenes Joey Lawrence singing Christmas carols inn between takes!

What a treat, he has a gorgeous singing voice!

Joey Lawrence sat and chatted a while with us and he couldn't have been any nicer! We spoke a little about growing up in show business, how he prefers to keep his family out of the public eye and the creative freedom he and Melissa Joan Hart enjoy while making Melissa and Joey.

I really enjoyed hearing about his opinions on keeping his work life and personal life separate - it was an interesting look into what makes Joey tick!

After we wrapped our interview, Joey Lawrence posed with each of us - there were 25 of us - for photos!

WHOA! Joey Lawrence touched me!

When my friend snapped the photo of us using my phone, he actually asked what kind of phone it was!

Perhaps it's silly, but I found it really exciting to talk to a celebrity about my choice of smartphone. It's a Nokia Lumia 1020, by the way!

Melissa Joan Hart also asked me about my phone when we took our photo together! Guys. I had a conversation with Melissa Joan Hart about technology.

I felt like the good kind of paparazzi.

As much as I love Joey Lawrence, I love Melissa Joan Hart even more! I grew up watching Clarissa Explains it All, then Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Angeline used to watch Sabrina the Teenage Witch every morning while we were getting ready for school! I was so excited to meet her and you know what?

She was every bit as sweet and down to earth as you'd think she is!

Being on the set of Melissa and Joey was an incredible experience, not just because we got to meet Melissa and Joey, but because we got to see what happens behind the scenes when filming a television show.

I was so surprised by the attention to detail in the set - while it wasn't a "real" house, all of the details in the set were just like you'd find in your own home.

In between interviews, we wandered the set and checked everything out - there were so many fun little details in the set!

There were things you'd never really see plain as day on the television, but all of those little details are what make the set look like a real home.
