Isn't it funny how we can go through our whole lives doing something completely wrong, without ever even knowing? Let's say you brush your teeth everyday, floss, use mouthwash...and you still aren't quite comfortable with your breath - so you brush your tongue when you brush your teeth. Sounds right, right? Nope. WRONG. I know, you're probably asking yourself "WHAT? I always brush my tongue with my toothbrush?!" Well, as I recently learned from TUNG Brush, this is all kinds of wrong!
Why do you even need to brush your tongue? It's been established that 90% of the bad breath we deal with are caused by the gases produced by bacteria on the surface of our tongues! These are the same bacteria and gasses that can lead to gum disease, which actually happens to be an issue in my family...our teeth may be totally fine, but our gums are a different story! I've personally had to see a dentist twice in the past three years to have composite added to my gum line because of my receding gums. It is not fun.
The majority of this bacteria, and the debris it feeds upon, was found to be located primarily on the back of the tongue. The TUNG Brush™, the original tongue brush, is designed to allow you to comfortably reach far back on the tongue without gagging.
Those of us with a very strong gag reflex know exactly how important that is. My ex used to joke that I would often vomit when brushing my teeth...it was because I was brushing my tongue with my toothbrush! Well, that's no longer an issue, and these TUNG Brushes are so cool that even Angeline has started using them!
If you think that brushing your tongue is unnecessary, think again. Think about how dirty your mouth gets, and how much work we put into keeping our teeth clean. Coffee, wine, soda, smoking, eating junk food, chewing gum: there are a ton of different reasons our breath doesn't smell as great as we'd like. Being a smoker AND a coffee drinker, I can tell you that when I am getting ready for a first date - and I am a big fan of the kiss at the end of a first date, so it's implied that there will be kissing - I go through the whole routine of dental hygiene AND I carry mints with me at all times. Dental hygiene is SO important, period, but especially important when you're trying to make a good first impression. TUNG Brush has even come up with a cleaning gel as well, to make the process more complete.
According to TUNG:
Your tongue’s irregular surface has numerous crevices where bacteria can hide. On top of those crevices, a mucous-like, sticky tongue plaque forms (that white film on the tongue we’re all familiar with). The TUNG Brush bristles are uniquely designed to break through this plaque and get inside those crevices, outperforming your toothbrush, whose bristles are too soft to get the job done, and tongue scrapers. Tongue scrapers simply slide over the rough surface of your tongue, pushing that nasty film deeper into the crevices. In fact, tongue scrapers can actually damage your tongue.
I may bring a little attitude, but I like knowing that when I get sassy, my tongue is nice and clean! Ha!

I've always used my toothbrush too and every once in a while gag a little if I hit the wrong spot. Will have to look for these to try out!

I take my dental hygiene very seriously, and I brush my tongue daily with my regular toothbrush. I will have to pick up one of these as they look like they will do a better job!

Sounds like a better tool than the regular toothbrush technique I've been using forever. Love all the fun colors too!
