If you know me, then you know that I absolutely love using a slow cooker to prepare meals! The use of a slow cooker not only allows you to prepare a variety of delicious meals - everything from stews to pot roasts (even some desserts if you're creative!), but it does something that we all desperately need in our lives...it frees up our valuable time! Who has time to slave away over a stove every day? Sure, some people really enjoy the art of cooking and experimenting with complex recipes, and there's certainly nothing wrong with that. However, if you're like me, then you're a busy bee and want a delicious meal that doesn't take much time. That's why T-Mobile CEO founder, John Legere’s #SlowCookerSunday Cookbook is such a blessing! Oddly enough, I often use my slow cooker on Sundays, in order to prepare a meal that will last Angeline and I at least two days (freeing up even MORE time!).
I have quite a large slow cooker, so when I use it to make a meal, it's big enough to last us 2-3 days. Angeline works the evening shift and I work, well, I am pretty much always working in some way or another! So this is perfect for us!
When I was growing up, my family had a very strict rule about sitting around the dinner table as a family. It was time for us kids to catch up with our parents about our days at school, time for my parents to talk about their days - it was a family ritual and very important to us. Think about it, where does the family gather where there are no distractions? The family dinner table. Where does the family celebrate holidays? The family dinner table. Where do we take family photos that we'll always treasure? Yep, you guessed it - the family dinner table.
When I started my own family, we followed the same tradition of always eating dinner together. Now that it's just Angeline and I, we still eat dinner together during her evenings off, right at the family dinner table. My girlfriends and I also have a fun little ladies night in and cook together every once in while, but I will tell a secret...they much prefer if dinner is already made and we can sit down and begin chatting without any effort! One of my favorite slow cooker recipes to make is Chicken Cacciatore - I just chop the veggies and throw everything into the slow cooker...4 hours later, dinner is ready!
I love the title of #SlowCookerSunday Cookbook: Leadership, Life and Slow Cooking with CEO and Chef, John Legere. It's available on T-Mobile.com as of December. #SlowCookerSunday includes 52 of Legere’s favorite recipes, as well as a personal angle; he includes his own advice to take from the office into the kitchen. Legere also takes readers behind the scenes of his popular SCS cooking show and gives them a small glimpse into his personal life. I love some of his recipes, as they range from simple dinners to snacks to desserts! There's an awesome Apple Dump Cake in the book! I am getting ready to try this Great Chili Meatloaf recipe this weekend, doesn't it look delicious? AND SO SIMPLE TO MAKE!
A big bonus to this book, besides the awesome recipes, is that net proceeds from the sales of the book will go to Feeding America to support its mission to feed America’s hungry.
