Ahh, there is nothing quite like an all inclusive trip to the Caribbean or the Bahamas, but make sure that you pack some of these Airport Snacks Based on Your Island Destination. You can get hungry at the airport, so snacking is essential to pass the time.

Snacks have to be easy to pack and unlikely to spoil during the airport wait. Opting for tropical island flavors ahead of your vacation can heighten the excitement. Think exotic ingredients such as mangoes, pineapples, guava and passionfruit. Enjoy these tasty treats with a tinge of tropical vibes at the airport.

    Banana Fritters

Caribbean banana fritters are the perfect treat for those craving something sweet and exotic. A fritter is a fried dough dish containing fruit popular in the Caribbean Islands. There are many variations of banana fritters depending on where you're from, but all begin with ripe bananas mixed with flour, baking powder, salt and a hint of nutmeg.

    Homemade Passion Fruit Muffins

To add a hint of tartness to your airport snack, homemade passion fruit muffins are the way to go. Passion fruit is from the subtropics, and its flavor can bring an element of island paradise to any snack.

Mix passion fruit puree, yogurt, butter and eggs together with self-raising flour, sugar, and baking powder for a tasty treat.

    Barbados-Style Snacks

Have you booked a Barbados all-inclusive stay? For a truly authentic experience, include traditional Barbados-style snacks. These include conkies, sweet potato pone and cassava fritters. Conkies are steamed cornmeal cakes wrapped in banana leaves and spiced with vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Sweet potato pone is a classic Caribbean dessert made with mashed sweet potatoes and spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. And snackable cassava fritters are made from grated cassava, flour, coconut milk and a hint of nutmeg.

    Mango and Coconut Smoothie

An alternative to traditional snacks, a tropical smoothie made with mango and coconut will bring some island vibes to the airport — just be sure to finish it before you head through security. It's easy to make, too.

Blend together frozen mango chunks, coconut milk, honey and ice for a refreshing drink. Add in a bit of freshly grated ginger for an extra zing. Other smoothie options include pineapple and coconut, or guava and lime.

    Mojito Trail Mix

If you're looking for a savory snack with a tropical vibe, try making your own mojito trail mix. Start by roasting oats, almonds and walnuts together in the oven.

Add some diced, dried mangoes, dried pineapple, shredded coconut, and a sprinkle of lime zest. Drizzle the mix with a bit of honey for sweetness, and you'll have an irresistible trail mix to snack on while waiting for your flight.

    Tropical Fruit Combinations

Dried fruit makes a quick and easy airport snack. Enjoy pineapple chunks tossed in coconut flakes or mango slices with a sprinkle of cinnamon for a unique flavor combination.

Pack these snacks in a reusable bag to enjoy during the wait. Another classic combination is banana chips mixed with raisins and almonds.

    Jamaican Johnny Cakes

Johnny cakes, also known as "journey cakes" or "johnny bread," are a classic Caribbean treat that has been around for centuries. They are traditionally sweet and made with coconut milk, sugar, flour and shortening.

    Caribbean Cornbread

A Caribbean-style cornbread hits the spot with its unique blend of flavors from orange peel, nutmeg and honey. Once baked, drizzle honey on top before serving it with some fresh butter.

    Fruitcake

No trip to the Caribbean would be complete without a slice of authentic fruitcake. It's a sweet, spiced cake filled with dried fruits such as raisins, currants, dates, cherries, and pineapple. The cake is usually topped with a white fondant.

    Fried Plantains

Fried plantains are a popular snack in the Caribbean and can be served sweet or savory, depending on your preference. Start with green plantains, which are firmer than yellow or black ones. Peel and slice lengthwise into thin slices before frying until golden brown. Sprinkle with salt for a delicious, salty-sweet snack.

One of our favorite Airport Snacks Based on Your Island Destination is Coconut Macaroons

Want a cookie with Caribbean flair? Just add coconut. Chewy coconut macaroons are made using just four ingredients: shredded coconut, sugar, egg whites and vanilla extract. Bake until golden brown for a decadent treat perfect for any journey to a tropical island.

    Chocolate-Covered Coconut Macadamias

For a sweet and salty snack, try chocolate-covered coconut macadamias. Start with creamy macadamia nuts, then dip them in dark chocolate and shredded coconut for an irresistible island treat that's sure to satisfy your cravings.
