The fashion industry is one of the worst polluters in the world. Trends constantly come and go which creates a vicious cycle. Consumers buy products just to throw them away in a matter of weeks.

There are plenty of ways that you can revamp your style on a budget. Here are a few of our favorite Tips and Tricks to Update Your Wardrobe on a Budget…

What Are You Going to Do with Your Summer? Here Are a Few Suggestions

Tips and Tricks to Update Your Wardrobe on a Budget

    Upcycle Your Old Clothing

Sometimes you can make an entire new wardrobe by simply upcycling your old one. There are tons of ways that you can alter your existing wardrobe, some of them don’t even require any sewing. However, if you love making and altering your own clothing, its worthwhile looking at some quality sewing machines.

If you have a pair of long jeans that you no longer wear, you can simply make this into a cute pair of denim shorts with some scissors. If you’re handy with the sewing machine, why not try make a dress out of an old men’s shirt.

    Go Thrifting at Flea Markets

Trends always come back around, so it’s no surprise that flea markets and second-hand or vintage stores always have a steady supply of trendy items. You just need to have a little bit of imagination and know what you are looking for.

It’s easy to be overwhelmed with the amount of clothing for sale at one of these secondhand stores. A great way to go about it is by looking for specific items when you go. This will help you narrow down your search and avoid you wasting any time.

    Sell Unwanted Items Online

If you’re working with a budget, it could be a good idea to get some extra cash before you go shopping. This will help you free up some space in your wardrobe, give your old clothes another home, and give you some more spending money.

Use online sites like Facebook marketplace and eBay to sell the items of clothing you no longer want. Make sure to take the pictures in plenty of natural sunlight and set attractive prices.

    Organize a Local Clothing Swap

Another way that you can get new clothes for cheap, or even free, is by organizing a local clothing swap. Send out some flyers and make a Facebook group to invite your friends. Use a local park or someone’s backyard to set up tables and encourage friends to bring clothes they no longer like or wear.

The best way you can look amazing is by feeling confident in the clothes that you wear. Make sure to only follow the trends you really enjoy and try to look for timeless pieces that can be combined over and over again. Don’t waste your time buying garments that are poorly and unethically made. Unleash your creativity and find new ways to update your wardrobe.
