The ‘60s were a decade of change, but that wasn’t confined to social issues alone. Fashion was taken to extremes, allowing expression through clothing in a way seldom seen before. Nature was a huge inspiration with the appearance of the flower child. Long, flowing skirts, billowy halters, and free form peasant blouses showed up on the scene in natural fibers and included both muted and rich tones. The look was complemented by lengthy, naturally worn tresses and earth-inspired jewelry and footwear. On the other end of the spectrum was the glam that came along with the chic and polished “Mod Squad” look, which included bright, vibrant colors, bold patterns, and form fitting styles.
