Here are my 5 Reasons Why I Love Boating - and think you will too!
I grew up on boats. I have spent most of my life on a boat, in one form or another...whether it was my dad's boat, a friend's boat, a chartered fishing trip or just going out to the sandbar with friends on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, boats have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember!
Did you know that 72% of Americans feel healthier after spending time on the water? I am definitely one of the people included in that statistic.
5 Reasons Why I Love Boating
According to the National Marine Manufacturers Association, 142 million Americans (adults and children) go boating each year, and annual U.S. sales of boats, boat parts, marine products and services totaled $39 billion in 2017, an increase of 7 percent from 2016.
Oh, and it isn't just brand new boats that we're buying - an estimated 988,200 pre-owned boats (powerboats, personal watercraft, and sailboats) sold in 2017. 95 percent of boats on the water (powerboats, personal watercraft, and sailboats) in the U.S. are small in size, measuring less than 26 feet in length—boats that can be trailered by a vehicle.
When Chris and I were still married, we actually had a tow hitch installed on our SUV so that our friend could use OUR car to take the boat out - and we reaped the rewards by always being invited to go fishing!
Fishing is SO MUCH FUN
I grew up fishing, and there's nothing more rewarding than spending a day on the water, hearing the waves, and reeling in a big catch.
Yes, we can buy fish at the grocery store, but fresh is best, and when you've caught it yourself? It's even better.
Boating is the Ultimate GETAWAY for Families
Did you know that 84% of parents think their kids would be more likely to unplug on a boat trip versus a road trip? It's true. Angeline never looks at her phone when we're out on a boat.
It's the perfect combination of salty air, sunshine and family time. 88% of American parents feel that their kids need to get more involved in outdoor activities this summer, like boating...I am inclined to agree.
Even as a child, I bonded most strongly with my family when we left land and went out to sea.
Everyone Needs a Vitamin SEA
There's nothing quite like spending a day on the water, with the fresh salty air blowing through your hair!
We all need Vitamin D in our lives to feel healthy and happy...a day on the water fulfills all of those requirements - just don't forget your sunscreen!
Boating is a Great Bonding Experience with Friends
For my 40th birthday, which I was NOT looking forward to, I grabbed my closest friends and set sail for the sandbar.
It was a GREAT way to celebrate my birthday and also enjoy the water!
There's Nothing Like Seeing Marine Life in their Natural Element
One of my favorite things about going out on the boat is seeing marine life. Dolphin, Manatee, Sea Turtles - you name it, and we see it (when we're lucky).
