15 Crab Recipes to Make Your Mouth Water

Growing up in South Florida, eating lobster and shrimp was just a given. I grew up going fishing with my dad on weekends, and we all looked forward to Lobster Season (there are two times a year when it's legal to fish for lobsters in Miami-Dade County). It wasn't something just the wealthy ate - even though my family only had one car and our idea of a family dinner out meant Burger King after church on Sunday, I often took lobster to school for lunch in middle school.

After I had Angeline, I had a horrible reaction to crab while eating at Red Lobster on one of those All-You-Can-Eat crab nights. It was horrible! I was fortunate not to get the usual reaction of hives and swelling up, but it did affect me in an awful way: it upset my stomach. I won't go into graphic details, but I faced dehydration by the time my stomach finally settled. I thought I had a bad batch since I was dining at a restaurant, and didn't think anything else of it...until the next time we ordered Coconut Shrimp at The Cheesecake Factory. I was in the ladies room before our meal was even over!

That was about 15 years ago, and my allergy has progressed to the point that I can't even take a bite of something on the same plate as lobster or shrimp without getting sick. It's horrible! I guess it would be different if I had always been allergic to shellfish, but I know what I am missing. Oh, how I miss it!

Oddly enough, I have found in my years of experimentation that there are some things I can eat. I have found that Alaskan King Crab and Snow Crab don't make me sick - even though it was Alaskan King Crab that gave me my first bad experience. Being the shellfish lover that I am, I make sure that we have crab at least once a month, as it's the only way I can get my shellfish fix now!

Without further ado, here are 15 crab recipes that are sure to hit the spot!

I absolutely love Crab. These look like awesome recipes. I want to 1st try the Crab Rangoon's, that is always a must order when I order Chinese takeout. Lately My Husband and I have been finding a lot of great recipes for the Chinese takeout that we usually order. We have a family of 5 in our home and that take out is upwards of $80 per order. So now with this Crab Rangoon recipe we've almost got everything we usually order. We can make it all at home for a fraction of the cost. Thank you for sharing these great looking recipes. I must pin these.
