While Earth Day has come and passed, spring is just getting started in many places around the country and people are heading outdoors to enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer! Let's talk about 10 Things For Kids to do Outside!
You know what that means, right? Long days full of sunshine, picnics at the park, blooming flowers and for the unfortunate...seasonal allergies.
If you're one of the lucky ones who has never suffered from allergies, let me fill you in on what you're missing: itchy and sore throats, watery eyes, sneezing, coughing - it's basically like catching a cold but unlike a cold, it doesn't go away in a few days!
Fortunately, keeping a few Ricola® Herb Drops on hand can help prepare you so that you can alleviate those symptoms quickly and get on with the springtime fun!
But what shall you do this spring? I have a few ideas!
10 Things For Kids to do Outside
Visit the Local Watering Hole
Whether an actual lake or pond or merely the town pool, is there anything better than splashing around with your pals on a hot summer day? Remember to bring plenty of sunscreen and a towel!
Bring Out Your Inner Artist
A bit of sidewalk chalk can make for a decorative day. Use sidewalk chalk to make to play hopscotch, or have the children draw their favorite shapes and designs.
Sports of All Kinds
From basketball courts to disc golf courses and everything in between, springtime is meant for sports. Give the kids a ball and mitt to play a game of catch or shoot hoops to burn off some of their energy.
Water Fights
You know those days where it's just too hot to move, but you want your kids to peel themselves off the couch? Those are the best days to fill water balloons and launch an attack!
Go Sightseeing in Your City
Even the smallest town often has hidden gems worthy of sightseeing. Check the chamber of commerce, or ask grandparents or neighbors for suggestions of new places to explore in your own backyard.
Have a Photo Scavenger Hunt
Come up with a list of outdoor items to find such as a butterfly, acorn, animal tracks, etc. and then race to see who can capture photos to complete the list first. Alternatively, hide items around your yard and see who can find them the quickest.
Revive "Old School" Games
Hide n Seek, Tag, Red Rover - Grab all the kids you can find and settle in for some good old fashioned games. See who finds the best hiding spots or who the best seeker is.
Chase after each other in a fun game of tag, with or without a base or try to catch the other team's members as they run at you top speed in Red Rover.
Build an Obstacle Course
Use ropes, bungee cords, or cones to create paths. Then hop, walk heel to toe, or jump through each. Set out all types of balls and dribble a certain amount of times or toss into a specified target to move on.
Go on A Picnic
Do you live near a park or public garden? Pack a picnic lunch and take the kids to enjoy mother nature on a sunny day. Keep things simple and pack juice boxes and finger foods so that the kids can simply grab snacks while they're playing!
Don't forget your Ricola Herb Drops - no one wants to spend their picnic sniffling and sneezing due to allergies!
Go For a Bike Ride
Around the neighborhood, along the river, or down the bike trails - there's something exhilarating about taking a bike ride. It's fantastic exercise and reminds you what it feels like to be free! Just make sure to bring along a few Ricola throat drops to deal with any allergy symptoms that might arise while you're biking past the foliage.
Whatever your kids end up doing this spring, you can rest assured that Ricola Herb Drops will help them feel their best! Seasonal allergies try to knock you down for the count, but Ricola can help ease mild allergy symptoms to keep you feeling your best.
Chrüterchraft is the special 10-herb blend behind Ricola cough drops that are naturally effective in relieving all of those nasty symptoms associated with allergies.
The drops soothe itchy and sore throats while cooling nasal passages and offers a powerful cough relief! Ricola offers a variety of flavors including honey lemon and mixed berry as well as multiple strengths such as Dual Action, Extra Strength and Revitalizing.

Hi Jenn, I have tried Ricola Herb Drops in the past - I think I'll give them another try, since I am using more cough drops this allergy season! I didn't realize they could be so helpful - and loved your ideas and images - each one looks like a great time! 🙂

I am SO excited that visiting a watering hole is an option for me earlier this year. Florida is AWESOME!

We love visiting our local park but taking a tour of the city sounds like fun. Plus, it's a free activity!
Jennifer says
We spend the summer months in the backyard with the dogs. It's our way of unwinding. They love to get off all the energy they stored up over the winter. There's a lot of it!
Melissa Pezza says
We love to get out and ride bike when the weather warms up. It's a great way to get in some exercise and take in the beauty of the world at the same time.
Melissa says
Great ideas! We really need to revive some old school games!

My youngest is already begging for a picnic! I can't wait for the next month to be over cause then it'll be a lot warmer and everything outdoors will be enjoyed! Great suggestions!
Jenna Wood says
I haven't played Red Rover in years- I just adore any activity that inspires the younger generations to get unplugged and get out. IF that doesn't work....why not a mobile hone photography scavenger hunt or contest?
Ann Bacciaglia says
These are all great activities to do with the kids. I like the photo challenge one. I will have to try it this weekend.

These are all great ideas! We are almost ready for the beach here in the icean State, but for now, we love going out side and running! Addie is big into tunneling through her toys and being able to get into the swing herself!

The spring is such a great time for outdoor activities. I loved letting my kids explore and make "salads" in the yard.

I love spring. All the flowers and plants start blooming, the grass is green, and the trees are lush! My daughter already loves getting the side walk chalk and drawing on the driveway, actually anywhere that is a surface, including my car. Thank goodness for rain and that it's just chalk and can wash off. Its great to be outdoors after such a long winter.
Valerie says
Spring is a wonderful time of year. Everyone is out and about, and the kids can run out all their energy! Picnics and photo scavenger hunts sound like a fun time.
Amanda says
I love your idea about the scavenger hunt! But i don't know how much spring time outdoors my allergies can take. Cut grass, blooming trees.. it all bothers me.
Autumn @Mamachallenge says
These are really great ideas! I am always looking for things to do outside with my kids! Thanks for sharing!
