15.25ozwhite cake mix and ingredients to make cake: usually oil, water and eggs
3.4ozinstant chocolate pudding
2cupsmilk
8ozwhipped toppingthawed
1package holiday shortbread cookies
holiday sprinkles
red and green food color gels
Instructions
Prepare cake mix according to package direction. Divide batter equally into two bowls and color one bowl green and one red with food coloring gels. Pour batter into 2 greased 8" baking pans and bake according to package directions. Cool completely.
Whisk together pudding and milk for 2 minutes until smooth. Refrigerate for 5 minutes until set.
When ready to assemble the trifle, place one cake in the bottom of the trifle pan. Top with half of the chocolate pudding, spreading evenly. Top with half of the whipped topping and spread evenly on top. Sprinkle with crushed cookies so you have a full layer of cookies on the whipped topping.
Repeat layers, but place remaining whipped topping into a bag fitted with a large tip. Pipe the whipped topping on top of the pudding and add cookies to the dollops of whipped topping. Add holiday sprinkles.
Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve or serve immediately.
