There are so many food and food plan options it can often feel like you are stuck in a rut, so let's talk about Why You Should Rotate Your Food for Better Health. We make so many decisions every day that making another one about who will eat what in a day can feel like a lot to do.

But changing what you eat or rotating your food can help take the monotony out of it - or help you stick with a better diet plan. If you have been considering switching to something like paleo or keto, it can help to have a food list like this complete keto food list to help.

But what are the benefits of rotating your food?

Why You Should Rotate Your Food for Better Health

    Metabolic syndrome

If you have a limited diet where there is little to no variety, you become at risk for metabolic syndrome. What that means is you are more likely to have lower abdominal obesity, high fasting glucose levels, and increased risk of diabetes, stroke, and heart diseases.

Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of things rather than just one thing, and it is also linked to insulin resistance.

    Weight Loss

This might not be your primary goal, but weight loss can happen naturally when you change how you eat.

As you start to make new foods and enjoy them, you will be exploring more flavors, and often they will be heavy on veggies. So you’re more likely to have a good mix of flavors and better gut bacteria.

    Nutrients

One of the most important reasons you should eat a mix of food is that you will get more nutrients. Eating a delivery range of meat, dairy, grains, nuts, and veggies will give you more nutrients.

Pine nuts on salads will add magnesium; sunflower seeds can increase your vitamin E. Not to mention that food can be a source of some amino acids our body needs but doesn’t make.

Getting the broadest range of nutrients is why dieticians, nutritionists, and other health organizations recommend that you eat a rainbow of food.

Yellow bell peppers, green onions, purple carrots, and beets all have a place in your diet. One area where people are often lacking is vitamin B12 and phytonutrients that are found in orange, yellow, red, blue, and purple foods.

Next time you make a meal, look at the plate and see - could you call it a rainbow? If not, it is time to change your food.

    Live longer

This might be more important for some than others, but if you have just a few healthier fruit and vegetable options, you can increase your lifespan by up to 42%.

It’s not just about the healthy foods, though; it is about the nutrients that it provides - and that is part of the reason that adding foods that are known for anti-inflammatory properties is a good idea.

Not only is getting stuck in a food rut boring, but it also means that you are likely missing out on some essential nutrients that could quite literally change your life.
