I have to admit that I’m a bit of a nerd when it comes to airsoft. I’ve been playing since I was 12 and I quickly fell in love with the challenges of this war game. After all, it’s a game that teaches players a lot of cool skills like leadership, team collaboration, strategic thinking, hand-eye coordination, and it keeps you active.
I also love the social aspect of the game, but when I was a kid crouching through muddy terrains, it wasn’t that easy to find other passionate players. Sure, I had a cohesive team, but it took a while to find them.
Still, things are quite different now when I meet more and more young adults who are willing to play. And I am talking about people with office jobs and families, not college graduates who don’t have anything better to do!
As such, today I decided to find a satisfying answer to a question that’s been bugging me for a while: ‘how did airsoft suddenly become so popular?’.
The Cool Guns
Whenever I address the question to players (beginners and experienced), the first answer is about guns. Airsoft producers invest a lot in creating airsoft weapons that look and feel like real-steel designs, and this increases the overall quality of the experience.
For instance, you can easily find a wide range of airsoft pistols that fit in a holster for the real steel pistol, making you feel like a special ops combatant in a secret mission. The same goes for CQB rifles or sniper rifles – they have more power, are designed with better materials, and some even have blowback action which is the airsoft equivalent of recoil. All of this means that bb sniper rifles are fun to use, which adds to the rising popularity of Airsoft.
So yes, the guns are pretty cool! In addition, producers now make collectibles and limited edition products that incentivize seasoned players into enjoying the game even more!
The Social Experiment
The adults of my generation grew with some of the best video games and we’re constantly looking for an excuse to relive the excitement. So, when there’s a chance to play Call of Duty in real life, there’s no wonder most of us won’t ignore it!
But it’s also a great way to meet people with similar passions and interests, especially in a world where we no longer have the time and patience to make new friends. Furthermore, it’s a rite of passage from parents to children and a way to bond with your kids and teach them about friendship and teamwork.
The Mental & Physical Benefits
Airsoft is a game that has players constantly moving. Whether you’re looking for cover or you’re slowly making your way towards the adverse team’s flag, you will be on the move. Furthermore, one game can go on for hours on end, which is a lot more than you would do at the gym!
On the other hand, the mind is constantly engaged, looking for ways to conquer the adversary. Airsoft is a game of logic, planning, and quick decisions under pressure. In my opinion, it’s a wonderful way to teach kids and adults skills that have so many applications in real-life!
