When Jennifer asked me if I wanted to accompany her to a cooking class at Taste Buds Kitchen Miami West, I JUMPED at the opportunity. Let’s face it, I love anything involving food and drinks! I really had no idea what this event was going to be like. I love being surprised!
Taste Buds Kitchen was created with the goal of being the top culinary entertainment experience for kids, families and adults by engaging and delighting budding chefs. They support kids, families and food and strive to create a lifestyle around connecting, learning and growing in the culinary playground of the kitchen.
When we arrived, we were happily greeted by the owners, head chef and sous chefs. We were told to grab an apron, pour a glass of wine and mingle until all the guests arrived. This is a BYOB event. Jenn and I should have known better than to bring just ONE bottle of wine. We were half way done with it by the time they began the class. We were having a great time anyway getting to know our group at the station.
The theme of the night was Italian and we were learning to make homemade pasta!! (Input happy dance here)
Now, don’t worry if you can’t cook. They show you how to do everything step by step. (They even offer kids classes)
I’m part Italian. I love pasta. I love cooking.
But I've never made FRESH, homemade pasta! SUPER BONUS!
We cranked out fettuccine and made our own butternut squash and ricotta cheese stuffed ravioli, which our Johnson & Wales trained chef taught us to make, step-by-step.
Preparing the fettuccine was such fun!
We topped if off with our freshly made sauce, made with Island Spices Oregano and other fresh ingredients.
I can’t believe how amazing our meal came out! We ate family style at our station and all of us were blown away by our delicious masterpiece. We were all also given the recipe for each item we made, at the end of class so that we can play chef at home. This was a great opportunity to learn something new, meet new people, make amazing food and last but not least, leave there stuffed and happy!
