Milk does a body good...unless you're lactose intolerant like Angeline and Chris, which is why we came up with this Pina Colada Virgin Smoothie!

While they both love dairy, especially milk, their tummy discomfort was enough to keep them away from milk and led to me looking for alternatives.

I've been buying organic lactose-free milk for years, along with lactose-free ice cream and lactose-friendly cheese products. When I recently found out that SILK Soymilk is Non-GMO certified, I quickly made the switch!

    Pina Colada Virgin Smoothie

    Pina Colada Virgin Smoothie

It's so much easier to find SILK Soymilk in stores, and Angeline loves the creamy, delicious taste of SILK Soymilk.

There are many SILK Soymilk varieties available - unlike regular old lactose-free milk. SILK Soymilk is available in original, regular and light vanilla, regular and light chocolate, as well as organic original, vanilla, and unsweetened.

It's also available in Very Vanilla and DHA - Omega 3.

There are plenty of choices and flavors to suit your taste and your needs, whether it's just a nice cold glass of SILK Soymilk, or a dairy replacement in one of your favorite recipes...like my Pina Colada Virgin Smoothie!

The Benefits of using Soymilk in our Pina Colada Virgin Smoothie

    Silk Soymilk is...

    • Lactose-free
    • Dairy-free
    • Cholesterol-free
    • Free of high-fructose corn syrup
    • Plant-based
    • Enrolled in or verified by the Non-GMO Project
    • Responsibly produced
    • Free of gluten, casein, peanuts, egg and MSG*
    • Contains no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives

We have busy schedules and in order to keep us from mid-afternoon slumps we often turn to protein-packed smoothies.

Well honestly, we love smoothies at all times during the day, but they do make fantastic midday pick me ups!

Angeline gets out of school at 2:20 PM and that seems to be the point in the day when she is starting to drag, and now that she has joined a gym, she really needs an extra boost during that afternoon slump!

    Pina Colada Virgin Smoothie

You can do so many things with Silk Soymilk!

Including soy milk in a Pina Colada Virgin Smoothie or virgin Miami Vice provides a tasty burst of energy that keeps us both tackling our to-do list like champs - me in the office and Angeline at the gym.

The reason behind that is because SILK soy milk has 8 grams of plant-powered protein per serving.

    Pina Colada Virgin Smoothie

A quick way to add more healthy protein to your diet

Protein is one of the three nutrients that provide calories with the others being fat and carbohydrates - they are the building blocks for bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, and blood as well as enzymes, hormones, and vitamins.

Protein is vital in cell growth and the repair of tissue. SILK Soymilk provides all that power for drinking, over cereal, and works wonderfully in recipes, especially smoothies!

    Lactose-Free Pina Colada Virgin Smoothie

    • ยฝ cup fresh pineapple juice
    • 1 cup fresh pineapple
    • ยฝ cup frozen coconut
    • 1 cup SILK Vanilla soymilk
    • 5 ice cubes

Place all in blender and blend to desired consistency. Enjoy!

    Pina Colada Virgin Smoothie

    Miami Vice Smoothie

Separate ยฝ cup Pina Colada mix into glass

    Pina Colada Virgin Smoothie

Add 5 fresh strawberries to remaining mix and blend

    Layer both in glass. Enjoy!

    Pina Colada Virgin Smoothie

The SILK Soymilk brand is determined to change the world one sip - or spoonful - at a time. They recognized that soybeans are the way of the future.

Since the beginning, they have worked hard to provide healthy plant-based nutrition options and they have also made commitments to renewable energy, resource protection, and the Non-GMO movement.

How have you incorporated soy into your life?

This conversation is sponsored by Silk. The opinions and text are all mine.
