I've been to Key West a billion times. I've never stayed at the same property twice, because the island is positively teeming with accommodations ranging from boutique hotel, chain hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts - you name it, it's an option in Key West. Yet, despite all my travels to Key West, I've never heard of Not Your Average Hotel, a property unlike ANY other I've ever visited...it was such a unique experience that I brought along a friend who'd never over-nighted in Key West before - it was a trip full of firsts!
About NYAH: Not Your Average Hotel
NYAH is located in the Old Town neighborhood, which is just a few blocks away from Duval Street, which means that you can WALK practically everywhere you want to go.
Of course there are taxis, pedicabs and bikes to get around on, if you feel so included. NYAH even offers bicycles on their property to make transportation even easier!
Let's start with this: it's not average. My friend likened it to a college dorm, complete with bunk beds and lockers. While it was just the two of us, there were four single beds in our room, and as soon as we walked in, we regretted that we didn't have a whole gaggle of friends to join us!
The rooms were clean and tidy, with the essentials necessary for a fun weekend in Key West: a comfy bed, plenty of pillows, USB chargers and toiletries already in the bathroom.
You can build your own room design at NYAH to fit up to six people, but they all include the same basic features:
- Charging station with twin USB and a standard outlet at every bed.
- Advanced RFID locking system / access system for all personal closets and rooms.
- Memory-foam matressess & 300 thread count cotton linens.
I loved the simple layout of the room and the Caribbean vibe in the bathroom - the color isn't far off from the color I've recently painted my living room at home!
Guys, there was even a bar in the lobby. A BAR IN THE LOBBY. I wasn't expecting that, but it sure was a treat! Drinks range in price from $3.50 for beers to $6.50 for Redbull and vodkas. We may have had a few mimosas and bloody marys for $5. We weren't driving, so why not?
There was also a complimentary continental breakfast each morning from 8 AM to 10:30 AM near the pool and a happy hour each afternoon with discounted drink prices! The lobby bar also has a Starbucks machine that brews fresh coffee and tea 24 hours a day...for FREE.
Speaking of the pool...there are three different pools, and plenty of lounge chairs on the property.
There are also sundecks throughout the property with additional seating, which is just perfect for socializing!
We happened to check in when there was a bachelor party staying there for the weekend. Key West is a great place for bachelor parties, bachelorette parties, girlfriends getaways...it's basically the perfect place for EVERYTHING.
While we wanted to stay and socialize with the locals, we had reservations for a Sunset Sail with Danger Charters, which was courtesy of the Key West department of tourism, and you just can't miss a sunset sail!
Especially when there's a SUPER MOON!
Head over to NYAHotels.com to check out this fun hotel for yourself before your next trip to Key West. Or make a trip just to check the property out - believe me, you won't be disappointed!
Special thanks to NYAH Key West for my two day complimentary stay, it was just what Bri and I needed to wind down after a crazy summer!
