Ghana news: Jerry Rawlings concerned by the high population rate

According to Ghana news there is a very good possibility of unrest in the country due to the over-population and also due to the high unemployment rate in the country. The rise in the rate of population is a major concern for the former president, Jerry Rawlings. The former president is concerned that this situation might cause social unrest in the country.

    Rise in population in Ghana

The total population of Ghana is approximately 29 million as per Ghana news reports. This recent increase in the population of Ghana, might lead to security threats as well as create tension within the country. According to the Ghana Statistical Service statistician, David Kombat, the population of Ghana is approximately 29 million which is a huge increase compared to the previous rate reported to be at 24 million. The former president of Ghana has expressed concerns that this might become a serious area of concern on a permanent basis in their society.

The statistician chief, David Kombat while speaking to the newspaper Ghanaian Times during an interview, said that half of the percentage of population increase is due to increase in young people ranging from 1 to 29 years of age. According to David Kombat, the Ghana Statistical Service wants some immediate steps to be taken to face the challenges that are recently facing the country.  He added that, the steps should be taken as soon as possible to control the population rate otherwise this will be a serious issue in the country. According to the checks that were done by https://yen.com.gh/ the important issue that is withstanding amongst the Ghanaian youth population is the concern of limited jobs in Ghana. Considering the unemployment rate in Ghana, this has become a security issue at the national level as explained by Akufo-Addo, the President of Ghana.

The President of the country Akufo-Addo, in the effect of unemployment has promised to create about 100,000 new jobs within a period of one year, where the graduates will be directly linked with Builder’s Corps for available and ready-to-start jobs.

Due to the increasing rate of unemployment trends in Ghana there is a huge increase in social crimes including armed robbery. To reduce the robbery and murder rate in Ghana, it is necessary to educate people in Ghana and also to enhance the rate of employment in the country. According to the statistics released in March, armed robbery incidents occurred all over the country even in the daylight with many victims killed.

According to the reports given by the Ghana Aids Commission, the HIV prevalence has also increased tremendously during the passing years.  Unless the rate of population is reduced and proper education about sex is provided to the people of Ghana, they will not be able to overcome this problem. The need for proper healthcare and also education surrounding reproduction and woman empowerment needs to be done economically as well. The chief of Statistics, David Kombat, has also shown concern about the overall development of the economy.
