Living with allergies at home is difficult, but traveling with allergies is even more challenging - especially when you travel as much as I do! There are few things worse than an allergy flare up while on the road. Itchy, watery eyes, puffy nose, chapped face and a head that feels like it is stuffed with cotton are just a few of the worst symptoms. The crazy thing is that some allergy treatments can be worse, as it tends to make me drowsy...so on top of trying to work while traveling and suffering from allergy symptoms, I AM ALSO TIRED?! No thanks! Maintaining my sanity, and preventing all of the miserable side-effects that come with a flair up can feel like a full-time job. However, once I got into a routine focused on preventative care, things became easier. I've found the key to combating allergies while you travel starts before you even leave the house...it's the new FLONASE Sensimist™ Allergy Relief available at CVS Pharmacy!
Before Your Departure
Before leaving home, consider your destination. A quick google search will let you know what allergy conditions are like. Then make sure your medications are refilled. It can be difficult to have them refilled while you travel and we all know that the key to effective treatment is routine dosages, so it won't do well to run out before or during your trip. Be sure to pack your allergy medications in your carry on so they aren't lost along the way!
During Travel
Hotel rooms are the ideal host for dust mites and the devil's den for allergy sufferers. If you're particularly sensitive to mites it's always a good idea to bring your own hypoallergenic pillow cover. Some hotels even offer hypoallergenic pillows by request - so be sure to ask. If you're allergic to pets it's a good idea to avoid staying at pet-friendly resorts. Don’t forget to continue taking your medication while you’re traveling, regular dosage is key. You should also be ready to handle an allergy attack since you’ll be exposed to more allergens than normal. There are times when pills are simply not enough, especially when it comes to fighting nasal congestion. It's frustrating, but you're not alone.
More than 50 million American's suffer from allergies each year. For many, the burden is more than just a stuffy nose. Each year, people with seasonal allergies make more than 8.5 million visits to the doctor, and hay fever alone causes nearly 4 million missed or lost workdays!
For me, travel is WORK and it's a job I don't want to miss a single minute of. So I travel with nasal spray to help treat nasal congestion. FLONASE® Sensimist Allergy Relief is perfect for travel because it's non-drowsy, so it won't knock me out. Plus, it provides 24-hour relief so I'm not tied to the clock.
Simply take it once daily to help relieve allergy symptoms caused by pollen, mold, dust and pet dander. FLONASE® Sensimist™ uses unique MistPro technology to deliver one very powerful mist spray.
While FLONASE® Sensimist is a nasal spray, it treats both nose and eye-related allergy symptoms, including:
- Itchy, watery eyes
- Nasal congestion
- Runny nose
- Itchy nose
- Sneezing
If there is one thing I know about allergies, it's that no two sufferers are alike. While most OTC allergy pills act on histamine alone, I love that FLONASE® Sensimist Allergy Relief helps block 6 key allergic inflammatory substances (histamine, prostaglandins, cytokines, tryptases, chemokines and leukotrienes) with full prescription strength.
You can pick up FLONASE® Sensimist at your local CVS Pharmacy! Did you know that 76% of the US population lives within 5 miles of a CVS Pharmacy? With over 9,000 CVS Pharmacy locations around the country, you're bound to find a location near you!

I used to use prescription strength Flonase all the time. It worked great for me until I build up and immunity. I would definitely recommend anyone to try this because it worked awesome for me for years.

Not being able to get relief from allergies while traveling is the worst. Next time I travel I will have to make sure to check what allergens are in season there.
