Oh, berries. I think the only thing I enjoy more than a ripe, juicy strawberry is...milk chocolate-dipped strawberries!
Chocolate dipped strawberries are such a simple dessert to make, yet they make such a big impression! You can make a small batch for dessert on a special occasion - like Valentine's Day or a Birthday - or to give as a gift for someone special. Simply make a batch, arrange in a pretty gift box and tie them up with a bow and you're good to go!
We eat a lot of Driscollโs berries around here because they have a wide variety available in the grocery stores pretty much year-round. You can find out when each variety is available in this Driscollโs calendar. They even have organic berries available and in our stores, theyโre priced very competitively against the conventional varieties. A big thank you to Driscoll's for sponsoring this post!
The Driscollโs berries brand offers strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberriesโฆwhich just so happen to be the perfect combination for a berry breakfast smoothie!
To make your own milk chocolate-dipped berries, just grab a quart of ripened strawberries, a small bag of milk chocolate chips and a โ teaspoon of Crisco (or any vegetable shortening).
Then follow these easy instructions:
In a microwave safe bowl, cook ยฝ cup of milk chocolate chips for 45 seconds. Remove from microwave and stir, then cook for an additional 30 seconds. If your chocolate isn't completely melted, cook for another 15 seconds.ย Stir well, and mix in your vegetable shortening.
Wash and dry your strawberries and dip into the chocolate, making sure to coat each side evenly. Set on parchment paper and chill in the fridge for at least 20 minutes before serving.
That's it, you're done!
You can find out more about the varieties of berries available from the Driscollโs brand onย Driscolls.com!

Yummy! Chocolate covered strawberries are perfect! I love to make some with white chocolate too, and some sprinkles with crushed peanuts, or coconut shavings.

I'm not much of a fan of chocolate (yeah, yeah - I know), but I do love chocolate dipped strawberries every now and then.
